Question for AK devs: Sandstorms

I'm curious about the Sandstorm twist. I think it's excellent. But it was not in any of the betas until RC2 just before launch. Was it a last minute idea? Or intentionally held back? I'm just curious. I think it's such a cool idea. I remember thinking during earlier betas, "this desert weather makes recon so easy." But it never occurred to me to think of that twist. It's a great addition; what was the genesis?

Sandstorms were on our list from the beginning. If you look through AK-related announcements, you will see "desert-specific weather" since Stresa conference in Italy or maybe even earlier. So, we had to keep the promise. It was added at later stages, simply because other things had more priority.

We had it planned quite a while back, if I recall correctly, and of course we always like to keep some surprises, even for Beta testers!

I admit, it was such a pleasant surprise to me at the last minute. It made me think, "dang, that's excellent." When I encountered it in RC2 I think I almost laughed out loud. How did it not appear before, or why had no one suggested it? Perfect!

I hate to sound like a groveling fan, but Alex and you all really did a great job.
