Combined Nations army 1813/4

Post by Scrumpy »

A couple of questions about an allied army made from the lists in ToN.

1) Even though you have ally-generals can the CNc send pips and attempt to rally allied commands?

2) If I took a Russian reserve division, can I just have 2 units of Cuirassier in a brigade, or does the brigade of Cossacks rule still apply?

p.26 rule book
"Allied Commanders behave exactly the same as any other Divisional Commander except that his Corps Commander must expend one extra Command Point when allocating additional Command Points to him."

I can't see anything in the special instructions for the list that would disapply this rule or the normal rule that a Commander can recover troops in his own command, which for a Corp Commander may be any unit within his corps (p.71 rule book).

I assume you mean taking a division from the Russian Cavalry Corps 1813-14 list using the Reserve Cavalry Corps set within that list since this is the only option that would allow Cuirassiers. There is no requirement for any cossaks to be fielded when using the Reserve Cavalry Corp set, although if you wished you could field the Guard Cossaks or add a unit of normal cossaks under the special instructions for the Mixed Nationality Corps 1813-14 list allowing divisions from any nation to include a unit of cossaks.

My stab at this army would be:

1st Division (Russian German Legion)
2x4 line infantry
1x4 Hussars
1x2 heavy artillery

Merged 2nd & 3rd Divisions (Prussian/Hanoverian/British)
1x4 light infantry (part British)
1x4 line infantry (Hanoverian)
1x4 line infantry (Prussian) – (a bit generous)
1x6 Cossacks
1x Officer attachment

4th Division (Cavalry)
2x4 Hussars
1x2 Horse artillery
1x Rocket attachment (would need to be moved to 2nd/3rd division)

NB. The 2nd and 3rd divisions are too small to be fielded seperately, so I've merged them but added an attached officer to compensate. The Rocket attachments cannot really go with the horse artillery so would probably have to go to one of the infantry units in the 2nd/3rd division. As for Elan & Training you'd have to assess them from the history and performance of the units involved.

So the mixed nationalities armies for 1813-24

How does this interact with the list options.

it "looks" like you are limited to 3 divisions. Can't have 4.

Is that right?

The list given above is a historical one.
You can certainly field a 4 division mixed nationality Corps . Only 3 nationalities are allowed- so you'd have to have 2 divisions of the Corps Commanders Nationality

Now i see wording 3 divions of a different nationality.

So Can I make a list with the following divisions:
Austrian Reserve
Austrian Bohemia
Russian Guard
Prussian Autumn

Meaning does this list over-ride the individial list note options?

And are you limited to just two divisions from a single nationality? i.e. can't have two russian and two austrian.

Do you mean this list is not 'possible' as a 'regular' authorised list within ToN?
I haven't made the puzzle yet myself, but the Prussian army list can have Lutzow Freikorps, a British division...,
so maybe combined with Russians, there is a legal 'Wallmoden' -like corps in there somehow; a very colourful one indeed;

It's a perfectly permissible selection. The only restriction is that it MUST contain 3 different Nationalities from the selections provided - one of which will supply the Corps Commander (the other 2 being Allied). If you can stretch to 4 divisions within the points limit, 2 of the divisions must be from the same list and the Corps Commander must be from that list as well.

Terry,

Thanks for explaining this, I had hoped that's what it meant, but was not sure.

Can get me some light infantry for my prussians.

Now i get what you are trying to say. This makes sense now.

Time to rebase by 25mm Austrians.
