Quick Afrika Korps question

I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere, I looked around and didn't manage to find an answer.

I haven't bought Afrika Korps yet but have played Grand Campaign. I was wondering if there is any interplay between the two? I mean can you progress from some point in the Grand Campaign to the Afrika Korps scenarios and take your core force with you and then return to the Grand Campaign scenarios with your core force afterwards? The same way that each Grand Campaign links into the next one.

I guess it would be somewhere in between GC41/GC42 and such that Afrika Korps scenarios would fit in? (I'm not too familiar with WW2 history in Africa)
