Cant install to default drive

Post by pcpilot »

I had tried an experiment a few days ago by installing PzC to my flash drive. It didnt work, instead coming back with a CRC error whe I would try to run the game. Anyway, today I bought the PzC Afika Korps download and tried to install it to my original install on C drive. The installer just wants to install it to the flash drive and does not give me an option to install it elsewhere like the original game did. I tried running CCleaner and scanning the registry to see if that would help but didnt. Looked thru my original install on C drive to see if there was some kind of update log I could delete or something but nothing I could find. Any suggestions? Id love to get this installed on my C drive with the original install and start playing the game. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sorry hearing you're having issues with Afrika Korps.
The issue is related with your previous attempt in installing Panzer Corps in a flash driver. The installation was aborted.
CCleaner won't help, as usual, nor any other registry cleaner, although the problem might be related with your Windows registry.
Is Panzer Corps installed anywhere (I suspect it's not after your failed attempt)?
If yes uninstall it.
If not, try to remove manually all Panzer Corps registry entries. But that only in case if you're used with the search function in Windows regedit.
In that case in order to be more precise I need to know what Windows you've. Still you'll have to use regedit.
Please report back. I'll try to help you.

You never want to install any application, unless it's prepared to run, in a flash drive. Flash drives are prone to errors. And nothing better than an aborted installation to mess with your Windows.

Thank you paulus. I am using windows 7 64 bit. I have the game already installed on C drive. That runs just fine. I also installed the V1.10 undate last night. Everything works fine there. However, after buying the afrika download today, I cannot get it to install the afrika korps download to the original install on C drive. It just wants to install to the flashdrive drive "H". Should I go ahead and uninstall the original C drive install?

Yes, racketyjack. Uninstall everything you might have related with Panzer Corps. If you've any beta release uninstall it either.
If you've any DLC, uninstall all before uninstalling Panzer Corps. Panzer Corps must be the last to be uninstalled.
But mind that in order to install Panzer Corps (and DLC) again you need to have the original installer download and the serials.
Then you can procedd to install Panzer Corps, DLC and finally Afrika Korps. Let's see how thing run this way. :)

Yup, guess that was it. I guess I'll not try the flash drive thing again. Sure screwed me over. Anyway, got it working now with a fresh install after I uninstalled everything. I then ran cccleaner and its registry cleaner. Then I installed PzC v1.0 which I have, then the PzC 1.5 update BEFORE I could install the two grand campaigns I have but that was no problem. Then finally afrika korps. Im now in business! Thank you for your time VPaulus, mucho appreciado...:).
