I'm new to Battle Academy and still working my way through the Desert Campaign. I've enjoyed playing with the early war tanks, the Matilda is pretty awesome! I've been thinking how cool it would be to drop the M3 Grant/Lee into the mix but I don't think it's included?
Any chance it will show up? Or would some modder like to take a shot? I'd do it myself but I still have a lot to learn about the scripting/configuration.
Great game guys. Really enjoying it!

Re: new unit request
Making 3D models for any 3D game is time consuming and requires talent. You could add one to a scenario but use the 3D model from a Sherman. The game is not detailed enough to show any benefit from having multiple guns. See the Char b1 bis in the France module for example.
You can call me junk - and type that with one hand.

Re: new unit request
My guess would be that the missions in the game don't include a time period when the unit was in use, so we didn't build it.
I will check with Richard.

Good stuff.
What I'm hearing is that if the game mechanics don't really treat the multiple gun tanks, then since the M3 had the same 75mm, same chassis and probably similar armor to the Sherman, to a first approximation I could just use an M4.
Thanks guys!

Grants were provided for Lend Lease in 1941-42. Americans actually had to drop back to using them in Tunisia as the Shermans broke down on the way from Casablanca. Used extensively by the US in 1943 until more Shermans arrived.
The Grant made its debut during the Gazala battles. In one encounter they were terribly out numbered (if my AH Tobruk memory serves me right their scenario was a "balanced" version of the affair) something like 8 Grants vs. 40+ German tanks.
It would present a bit of a design challenge for you as it mounted a 75mm in a sponson turret in the hull while the 37mm gun was used in the turret. Thus it had a unique "covered arc" for the "main gun" while the lighter 37mm was used in a 360 turret config.
I am not sure it would work in the game but hey, you are the genius and can probably figure out a way to improve its firepower when firing in its frontal arc while reducing it while it fires to the side or rear. Just a matter of building a routine for that. And we have the 37mm gun in other vehicles. 75mm would be as per the short 75 in the Sherman (perhaps - not sure completely on its effectiveness for its round but probably used a similar AP shell).
I would add it in at some later date so that those of us that want to put together more desert stuff can do that.
