Game freezes loading PC saved games.

PC and AK will freeze if you confuse your save files. It's understandable that they are incompatible, but if you inadvertently open the wrong file, perhaps there could be a dialog box that warns you before it locks up? Since they put files in the same directory, it can become confusing if you assign a custom save name. PC will do the same if you mistakenly grab an AK file, too, of course.

Perhaps a note for a future revision?

AK is fully backwards-compatible with old saves. I've tested more than 5000 saved games from 1.05 and they worked in AK.

Loading AK saves from PzC 1.05 can cause a problem. But this would happen only if you somehow transfer such saves from a different PC. Because AK and PzC 1.05 cannot exist in parallel, the former upgrades the latter when installed on top. This is not true for beta, which was installed separately from existing PzC, but release version will not install separately.

only 10 seconds bothering with each save would make 14 hours only loading saves..tell the truth..you conscripted the boy from opposite or you nephew or both

Hmm, I'm confused:

If I have AK running (rc2), and I try to open a PC save, nothing happens at all. No freeze or crash, but just nothing.

If I have PC running (latest version) and I accidentally try to open an AK file, it freezes. But that should go away with a 1.10 patch?

As I said, release Africa will install on top of PzC, not separately. So, after installing Africa, you won't have PzC 1.05 to load AK saves any more.

Installing PzC 1.10 patch makes the game compatible with AK saves, technically. But there is also protection in place. PzC 1.10 cannot play official scenarios from Africa campaign, and it cannot load saves from these scenarios either. In this respect the Africa works the same as DLCs. You would need to install Africa in order to play Africa SP content. Same holds true in the opposite direction. Africa, when installed standalone, cannot play scens or load saves from the Wehrmacht campaign.

Everything works fine here: I can open 'vanilla' PzC saves normally, but the behaviour you describe happens when I try to open a Grand Campaign DLC save file. I don't think you should be able to open these from AK, and the program just 'ignores' it, so no problem I guess because this beta doesn't include those Grand Campaign DLC's?

So with AK RC2 I can normally open savegames from the stock/basic/vanilla game or AK, but not savegames made with a Grand Campaign DLC, which it just ignores.

Yes, AK beta does not know anything about DLCs, and cannot load their saves. But released Africa will be able to do that.

I guess if someone has AK stand alone they have no PC, so then no PC saves. So thus really no problem.
