I have been enjoying Afrika Korps immensely but I find myself craving a campaign that slows things down a bit. It would be great if battles like El Alamein and the final stand at Tunis were broken up into several scenarios and maybe each year (41, 42, 43) could have a dozen scenarios like the eastern front grand campaigns. Anyone else feel this way?
One thing that I do really love in Afrika Korps though, and it is something we wouldn't get in the Grand Campaign, is how we can change history and I really appreciate the quantity and quality of hypothetical scenarios that we get.
Would anyone else like to see an Afrikan "Grand Campaign"?

I thought that was really what this was?

Hey, I'm all for a grand campaign for AK...anything that gives me more opportunities to play variations of the game is welcome. I'm kind of wondering though, why you feel that although history is bent/broken in AK you feel that couldn't happen in the grand campaign for Europe?monkspider wrote: One thing that I do really love in Afrika Korps though, and it is something we wouldn't get in the Grand Campaign, is how we can change history and I really appreciate the quantity and quality of hypothetical scenarios that we get.

It is to some extent to be sure, but in the Grand Campaigns we got like a dozen or more scenarios for each year of the war and the scale was smaller and more zoomed-in. That is what I am asking for here.Ballacraine wrote:I thought that was really what this was?

Oh, for sure. A Grand Campaign would have to follow the same philosophy of the earlier DLCs where you could only change history to a limited extent. There would be no invasion of the Arabian peninsula in a hypothetical Afrikan grand campaign.LostAgain wrote:Hey, I'm all for a grand campaign for AK...anything that gives me more opportunities to play variations of the game is welcome. I see no point to a Grand Campaign for Africa when the add on will cover most of the battles fought by the Africa Korps.
Re: Would anyone else like to see an Afrikan "Grand Campaign
Well, the Grand Campaign leads to most of the places like the standard campaign starting at Poland 1939. While the standard campaign has 24 (?) scenarios the Grand Campaign has nearly 80.
So AK could be the standard african campaign and GAC41, GAC42 and GAC43 could each contain 10-12 historical correct scenario finishing at Tunis 1943. So these scenarios will differ from the standard african campaign (no Suez, no Syria, no India, ...).

There is an argument for both approaches.
One that accurately follows history & the other that really enables the 'What if..?' approach.
I have no argument against anything that is historically plausible.
That approach adds more scope to the game, IMO.
