Many problems with Commander

Post by mikerusso »

Hi Folks,

Paid $50 and did the download thing. Found out 1.04 Editor doesn't work with 1.00 of game. So downloaded 1.04 patch. Now I get a language selection box. Hit the Brit flag and get language files not found--game over.

So I try just playing with 1.00. In combat phase, have to back out to another screen to unfreeze. Computer doesn't have that luxury, so first time I'm attacked, the hourglass just sits there. Completely unplayable, and it's been on the street for four months?

What am I to do, good people?

Can you try to DL the 1.04 patch again, since we had a problem with some files early on. Try DL and install 1.04 again from Slitherine site and it shoudl work.
As for the performance problems, are you running High Spec on a low spec machine? You can reset the settings.txt file to "LOW_RAM 0" to receive that popup once again where you select whether you have a low or high spec machine. I did not quite understand the freezes, how long were they?

Also, did you buy from Slitherine site or from Matrix because they have their own patch and if any problem we would like to know whether it was on our site or theirs.

Sorry Sir, I didn't read your email fully.

I think the low spec/high spec will take care of the slowdown. It wasn't a total freeze during my turn, I just had to back out of the combat screen after the combat (go to research, etc.) to continue. The yellow and red combat boxes just stayed highlighted and I couldn't do anything. But during the computer's turn, the hourglass just stayed up there continually.

Will try again, once my wife gives me back my laptop.
