Has anyone ever created an app that converts a jpeg screenshot to a terrain map for BA?
Light greens to grass terrain, Dark greens to forest, Blues to water, Yellows to fields, Browns to ploughed fields, Whites or greys or reds to urban open ground, etc... Doesn't need to be perfect, but just something that would let us quickly take a Google Maps satellite view, so we could then enhance the basic conversion and populate it with objects.

Hmmm - not sure it would really be doable. There is no way for a script to grab a data file and interogate it.

Re: Jpeg screenshot to map converter?
I guess it would need some sort of image processing to run a "mosaic" transformation, to simplify a google maps screen capture into X by Y tiles, with colour determined by the dominant colour for each tile. Then it would have to assign a conversion colour, eg. blue for water, green for grass, white/red for urban, to each of the "mosaic-ed" tiles. That becomes the base for a BA map... Suddenly massive maps become a whole lot easier
I suspect it's not easy tho...

Just a thought I know its not a jepg to map converter - but have you come across Amaris randon map maker https://sites.google.com/site/bbcbaamar ... dom-plugin, he also has a section on how he makes maps.
