Victory Objectives

Post by azpops »

A comment about victory objectives on the Africa maps. I am color blind and the current method of highlighting victory objectives is almost impossible for me to distinguish from normal objectives. Could you give the victory objectives a little more contrast?

Thanks for feedback! Do you have the same problem with victory objectives in "normal" Panzer Corps as well, or only in Africa Korps, because of lighter desert color?

OK, we'll see what we can do. What is your general impression of PzC and AK, from a color blind person's perspective? Are there any other aspects you are struggling with, and what exactly can be improved?

My world is a set of black and white mixed with levels of gray for most colors people see. PzC gives me some problems with distinguishing some terrain types, but with the use of silhouettes I can tell most units and its sides apart. With AK, the desert gives me mainly the problem of distinguishing victory objectives as discussed above. Since most all terrain is the essentially the same color, it doesn't give me any problems. For both games, the biggest problem I have is with the unit strength box. Not be able to distinguish the color of the box, I can get some units mixed up as to which side it belongs to. That is where the silhouette comes into play. I can recognize most vehicles as to which side they belong to. The infantry tends to give me a little trouble as there is little to distinguish some infantry types from others. However, since I can't move enemy units, as soon as I click on one and see I can't move it, I know who it belongs to. It is frustrating at times because I can plan an assault using a unit I find later isn't mine, but it doesn't keep me from enjoy any game.

Thanks a lot for this overview. Do I understand correctly that I could check this stuff myself by making a screenshot and making it grayscale in Photoshop?

About distinguishing friendly/enemy units, there are small icons in the game indicating move and attack actions. When you have these icons, it means you could do something useful with a unit. Does this help you in any way?

Whether you can grayscale in Photoshop to give you the same view I can see I can't really tell you will work or not. I can see black and white, but most all other colors show as a shade of gray for me.

Are the small icons you're talking about indicating move and attack in color? I can't see any icons. Where would they be?
