Probably it's a combination of factors, such as codecs and third party software. He said that he don't have anymore 1.05 installed, but when he had it, this issue didn't happened. I bet however if he installed Panzer Corps again he would also have now the same issue.
So I will ask tjeren, if he installed any codec pack, any video or audio player, or anything that might be connected with audio and video, between the last time he played Panzer Corps and now Afrika Korps. Something happened to his system between then and now.
Well, tjeren has told us that he ran PzC 1.05 on a 32-bit version of Win7, so obviously his current environment is different. I also believe that the base game would have the same problem if installed on his PC now. Otherwise, I don't see how just playing main music theme in main menu could cause such a serious problem in AK, but not PzC. I did not touch the sound code in a long, long time.

the funny thing is once you start digging into these special cases in the end it almost always turns out the user has fiddled around with the system to the point of ruining it with installing any possible codec pack,extension he came across on any dubious web-site and I dont know what else...
without having the PC in front of you I have a little doubt you or anybody else is able to solve this but Iam 100% positive if he goes and reinstalls the vanilla x-64 OS his game will run properly

Well, I agree. That most of the times is almost impossible to solve this kind of issues without being in front of the system. And it becomes more difficult as the user tech level is lower.
Codecs are slippery. And I know that a broken codec can affect the system in multiple manners.

that seems natural as the game would crash anyway around 1GB RAM usage but since W7-X64 claims more system ressources than Win7-32bit I suppose the crash simply comes earlier as the application can not reach the adress space reserved for the system...

I really would encourage you to upgrade to at least 4GB RAM..anything under 4GB RAM does not makes any sense for a x64 operating system as it needs more ressources
Yeah i know i need more ram :( ... but my MBO cant support 2GB ram and i cant find older 1GB ram to match mine... i tried everything and i work as IT so....
PS.
game doesnt crush when i turn rename audio file and game reach 1.3GB and still work... little slow but works :)

So do you have K-lite codec pack installed, tjeren?
Could you post your DX-Diag?

All games use different audio APIs, codecs and audio file formats. If you play other games fine, it does not guarantee you can play the next one. With 3D graphics such an issue is really wide-spread, you never know if the next game you try will work or not. But it happens with audio too.

@tjeren
I think you've k-lite codec pack installed. If yes, could you try uninstalling your version and instead install this version just to check if the problem persists.

I was not going to get a physical RAM for you but I have my means :mrgreen: ..
so maybe if you give me some specs I maybe can give you a link where to buy that piece of memory...
