Slitherine PBEM++ Server Message, possible ban

Post by notenome »

Hello,

I sent an email but figured it might be wise to post here as well:

For the second time I've gotten this message:

Dear notenome,

We note you are still consistently downloading your turns multiple times.
If you are having technical issues you need to contact our tech support team immediately via info@slitherine.co.uk.
A member of the team has been notified and your account will be locked out of the PBEM++ system until the issue is resolved.

Regards,

The Slitherine Team.

Now the first time I explained myself to a member of the Slitherine team and everything was fine. To be fair, it was partially my fault. It takes a while to save so I just closed the game after taking screenshots for my AAR before making any moves. I was warned not to do so and I stopped. I also had some crash problems but I've been able to work around that (though a few crashes here and there do happen, something to do with very large pictures and paint).

This second message, however, came completely out of the blue. I saved my turn normally and then received this email. I can understand the server interpreting closing without saving as cheating, but this makes no sense, how can you cheat when you save the game? I didn't finish my turn, but I rarely finish a turn in one sitting. In my two previous games (one two years ago and another quick one that ended rather recently about a month ago) I had no problems whatsoever with crashes or the server. I don't know if this is a problem with my ISP (maybe, despite being fast my internet is unstable, very bad for some things like torrents and frequently goes down) my computer (also possible, given the crashes I have experienced) the game (also possible, another user named Pelton suspended both his aars a few months back because he was having to play his turns 2-3 times as the game kept crashing) or the server (I didn't read the other tech support posts as I doubt this is common problem, but I saw some titles reffered to the PBEM anti cheating service).

Gabriel

Because of the nature of the system the warnings cannot trigger immediately and have to be based on monitoring your overall activity not a single event. It may be related to something you did the day/week before. We'll have to manually review the activity and decide what action to take.

Hello,

I opened the turn again this morning and realized that my moves last night hadn't been saved. This has got me thinking that there must have been some kind of hiccup with the internet or the electricity (I play on a laptop) during the send/save as I'm right back to where I was yesterday afternoon.

In my email to tech support I attached a picture of the oob and a link to my AAR of the same oob, tried to do the same here but the .jpg is bigger than what the site allows for uploads.

Gabriel

I just got the same message.

I am getting repeated crashes when loading games ...the message says loading, then the screen goes white, although the graphic can be seen translucent lay through the whiteness, and the game never loads. I have to reload the game to play, and usually the next time it loads ok. This happens in both solo and multiplayer games. Please advise, thanks.
