Joe (Axis)vs Morris(Allies)

Post by Morris »

Hi everyone :

I am so glad that Joe give me an opportunity to play a switch side new pbem . As Joe's words :we will try to make another great game !

Since usually the period of 1939 is a little bit boring , so I chose a new strategy to make this boring period amazing :

Turn 1

Germany Dow polland & full attack , They made Warsaw only 3 steps left .Pollish have no choice but make brave suiside attacks & accomplish some loss of Germans before warsaw fall in Turn 2 .

To help our ally Polland , Uk & France really did sth . France Dow Belgium & conquer Brusell by the help of RAF . Maybe we will attack Germans from their back ! :D
At least ,we make Germany have to fight on two fronts from the first turn !

Lol, that's interesting. Will the Allies get the -20 modifier after the Axis takes Brussels?

Probably not since they already surrendered to a nation and is now a part of Allies. But the allies should get the gear up penalty to the US....

You need to attack Holland too if you want to affect German units. All German hexes adjacent to Belgium are in Siegfried line hexes.

The Allies won't suffer -20 by loss of Brussels, but the Axis will get full production from Belgium when the country is liberated. In addition USA will get -6 war effort until they join the Allies. That means quite a lot of production and delayed war effort levels to build new labs. So USA will suffer quite a bit.

Another downside is that the Axis can now use the winter to nibble at the Allied units in Belgium. I'm sure Joe would consider going after Holland fast instead of Scandinavia. Or he can keep Holland as a buffer and go after Denmark and Norway.

Regardless it's a big risk taking Belgium as the Allies. If the French and British can't destroy Siegfried line hexes they won't benefit at all from the assault. E. g. the Germans can engage the Allies in Belgium without any Belgian units defending there. France is so weak in September 1939 so they can't hold a line against Germany.

Joe might have to spend extra PP's on rail movement to get his troops back to the west, but he can afford it because he will get 6 PP's per turn from Belgium instead of 3 PP's.

Turn 2 Sept 21 1939 fair

Joe took Leige & made a breakthrough into France . We try our best to kill the front Corp near Brussel . but as we know the Germany unit is tough in 1939 , we just need bad weather to help us to stop their steps ! :(

Turn 3 to Turn 5 Oct 11th to Nov 20 th 1939 All fair weather !

I am so unlucky to meet such a extrem fair weather for 3 more turns . Under such weather , the Axis's Bliz is always fatal . It will be no doubt that the France will die by the end of 1939 or early 1940 .

It is a dream start for Axis ! After an early France fall , all strategy opportunity are wide open to Axis : sealion , strong Babarosa , huge Europe fortress , NA & Spain ....etc . It will be a big challenge to Allies . let's see what will happen .

Hi Everyone , I just come back from the long trip , sorry for my absence .

I read all professional comments on Joe's AAR , It is quite impressive & interesting . Some of you must be right . But in my view , the great victory of early France fall means great chance to Axis & also means the best start & opportunity for Axis to achive a victory . At present , there is a important & difficult choice of : sealion or superstrong Babarosa in May 1941. I don't think Joe will consider too much about the middleeast & Africa . He will just concentrate to the main battle field . Joe is always well planed & farsighted . But even though the choice of sealion & superstrong Banarosa in 1941 is difficult to make ! Whenever he will make the choice , it will be a one way ticket . The final destination will be failure or victory which only god knows ! I will try my best to be a qualified enemy . Please enjoy the game ! :)
