TEAM MULTI PLAY ET AL
I would like to know if there would be any interest in a team multi play? 2 per side - both players must make there moves (there own units but same side) before the other team can take theirs. I would like the force selection shopping list to be incorporated with a much higher amount. More new units (as long as historically correct). I would love to see some Para's as well. It would make for a great game as long as balance is maintained. I think the force selection has helped avoid some balance issues. OK I have mission creep here but just wanted to save time.
Summary. Team multi play? Would it/ could it work?
thanks

I have coop mode(s) on my wishlist, but it would entail a considerable amount of work, as well as on the serverside, to allow for MP 2v2 games.

It could be possible now that you can save the turn on the server. For example, Brit player 1 makes his moves and saves the turn(uploading it to the server). Brit player 2 downloads it and opens the turn (both would need the PW of course) then makes his moves and uploads the turn, ready for the Axis players. The drawback are the scenario's. You would need four groups of units on a large map. Each group containing infantry, mortar/artillery units and armour. How many scenario designers out there making MP type scenario's?? Also what's the max amount of units you can have on the map??

There are also issues that we would need to add new functionality for posting a challenge which would then need to be accepted by 3 players rather than just the 1, which is a considerable amount of change.
As I say, it's definitely on our wishlist, but it would require a considerable amount of extra work.

But in the meanwhile, the above method could work between friends. Or find the players by posting on the message board.

I'm not sure that giving your username and pw to other players is a good plan, which that approach would seem to need?

Basically it's no different from what's happening now. If I play against someone and we enjoy the battle then we arrange a private battle using a password. We both know each others forum name and the password. The only other thing would be an email address which can be easily set up.

Perhaps I am missing something then
. You seemed to imply you could play 2v2 right now in some way.

Re: TEAM MULTI PLAY ET AL
Well there's only one way to find out!
But the important bit is finding the correct scenario that can be used for four players. So can I put your name down as one of the players??
Any one else fancy trying out this experiment?

yes, I appreciate the extra work but if you can do it then it would be worth the wait. I see the same names on the list of players/opponents and Ive had some good games with them. Its difficult to give advice to players that will be your opponent which is a little frustrating but on the same side, the camaradie etc. would be great. The regulars, including myself are going nowhere else so MP would definately be welcome. A bit of mission creep again. The force selection; please give the hugh maps a force selection number commensurate with the size of the map. The Yanks sit back and bomb the hell out of the Germans whilst they spend 10 moves to find them is spoiling what could be a great scenario - the points I reckon will need to go to 3000 - mouth watering to say the least but would get everyone interested...

I defo did not imply 'I take this turn, you take the next turn' I meant each player has his own force - just like real life. Further down the line we could even have an overall divisional commander (who would have arty and airpower) who gives the orders to the 2 subordinates. It could be done but I know it will take some considerable time to sort out.
With mortars; Im getting bored with the light mortars - how about some 80 - 120 mm mortars. Thought I might as well push the boat well and truly out!

Re: TEAM MULTI PLAY ET AL
Ive stretched this thread a bit (!) but please can we have Japanese (with correct language as per the others) that do the banzai thing and charge towards the enemy instead of running away!pipfromslitherine wrote:Perhaps I am missing something then. Also Chinese! Please! Same again, with correct language. We have a tremendous opportunity to allow players to experience the lesser known aspects of WW2.
Also Spanish Civil War.
And Russain Front with Human Wave.

I haven't visited this thread for awhile now. But what I have mentioned earlier has be done with Combat Mission (not the newer versions). As 1Para pointed out, the drawbacks are the maps and amount of forces with BA. If this can be overcome then 2 v 2 is possible. Building a whole new system for MP would be nice but I suspect not possible due to the designers commitments with other games and patches etc.
