ncali's Axis kick my but!
This is a 2.1 game where my allies are being pounded by the Axis
The Axis rejected the French Armistace and activated Spain.
They then went for Persia and a 41 Sealion! The SEalion caught my slightly unawares as I had my FTR's to far away to intercept and a lot of UK troops and resources were committed trying to bleed the Axis PP's and Manpower.
So what to do.
I decided to go for a bleed startegy, one where I wanted to trade PP's, Manpower and oil so as to hopefully win the 'end game'.
That meant I committed the US to ensure Scotland remained in Allies hands and didn't try and defend the oil fields - rather I would bomb them and retake.
I was suprised (again!) when the Axis launched a sizable Barbarossa. I mostly retreated as I wanted him to burn fuel (which has been a constant all game).
In the South though I decided I wanted to take a few more steps off him and see if he would hang around and maybe get caught a little in winter (although it will be only a 42 winter) and I will have manpower to burn late in the game.
I will post some shots shortly

here are the shots of the main area's and the casualties - not quite as high for the axis as I would like!

this AAR is my half of the game report, ncali will post a summary later

Hey ... I know the feeling. Neil has kicked my rear end in every game I've played against him. I have to say that he's the best defensive player that I've ever played against. And, he does love to build submarines as the axis.richardsd wrote:ncali's Axis kick my but!

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
Hi, looks like a nice game...
England looks good i think, nice foothold and if you can maintain airsuperiority and perhaps some reinforcements(Mechs, tank with offensive leader) you will start pushing the axis back and perhaps retake England in 43. I think you should priorities this so you can start strat bombing Germany as soon as possible. This will drain a lot of resources.
On the eastern front things doesn´t look bad either. You are perhaps a bit weak on the ground, think you should concentrate on tank, mech production for a while. All the time make sure you have some corps to screen your valuable units as you do. Catching him on open field when winter hits is a good strategy but be careful, your timing has to be good or you will end up losing valuable units instead.
It does look like you got plenty of forces to retake Irak, try and coordinate this attack at the same time you go on the offense during winter with the rest of your troops. How is you research compared to germany?
The only thing i can see that you actually could have saved pp on is the russian airforce. You built far to many strat bombers, it won´t be effective for you. 3-4 would be more than enough for the strategy you chose. 4 strat bombers less is 440pp that´s about 5 more tanks on the ground wich is a menacing threat to the axis. Or perhaps a couple of more fighters to drain the axis airforce real good.
I would say that you have a fair chance at winning this, start pushing on all fronts and produce more ground units. The axis are overextended and can´t possibly maintain 3 fronts at the same time, one of them is in supply 3 zone also.
Good luck, Crazyg

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
My guess is that he will give up Persia/Irak and England quite easy...he can´t be strong everywhere
Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
I think his strategy his to kill so many allies that I can't get to Berlin.Crazygunner1 wrote:My guess is that he will give up Persia/Irak and England quite easy...he can´t be strong everywhere
I made a classic mistake with my STR purchases of 'guessing' what he would do rather waiting to see
My Russian tech is poor (just bad research results) but will be ok after winter.
We are doing our best to keep on killing a strike unit a turn (MECH, ARM) which he is 'allowing' as he seems hell bent on killing Russians.
UK air superiority should arrive in the summer when my two additional FTR's arrive.
Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
so we have played more turns with more exchanges of troops!
I messed up twice in Persia which hurts and he is adding more troops all the time - hopefully their quality will reduce soon!
here is a dump of the screens for a few turns

and some more

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
and now after my last turn to bring us up do date
which brings me to my major gripe - now Partisans have been very quiet (very) and I can accept that, but the UK has been under occupation for years and not 1, not 1 measly step of Partisan's

and hopefully these casualties are beginning to hurt the Axis

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
The UK's losses are fearsome...
Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
I wonder if the large and strong Russian force in Persia may not be better put to use against to go after the axis directly in Russia?
I know Persia is important; but it seems it more important to the western allies than to Russia provided the Russians have Baku well protected from a possible axis attack from the south through Persia.
In my opinion, with the Brits crippled then Russia is the best chance for the allies to win. It seems to me that by dividing the Russian offensive forces (e.g., air and mechs (especially guards)) between Persian and Russia then you're actually playing into the axis player's hands in the east. In my opinion, by diluting your firepower in the east, you're making it easier for the axis to hold your off there.

normally I would agree, but he keeps sending more forces there which I need to contain and as a bonus they aren't then facing me in Russian Europerkr1958 wrote:I wonder if the large and strong Russian force in Persia may not be better put to use against to go after the axis directly in Russia?

quiet turn but here is Persia - another ARM!

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
despite seeing Axis reinforcements pouring in all over the map, we feel we have a better turn
in the UK we finally get a partisan (not that you will see it) and his assualt in Scotland falls short whilst our response takes out a CORP

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
this turn somehow the Axis succeed in Scotland although temporary as we retake and bring some reinforcements up, we may lose it again first though
more keeps turning up in Persia
and we make two big mistakes grrr

more keeps turning up in Persia

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
here are some more afters as the Axis continues to really kick my butt!

and current as we are implemnting our pray for success in 44 plan

just horrible really!

Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
I'm wondering how much oil the Axis has. All these oil fields are hardly useful for them, since you keep them at red levels.

I am hoping the answer is not much!Cybvep wrote:I'm wondering how much oil the Axis has. All these oil fields are hardly useful for them, since you keep them at red levels.
He will still be getting German, Rumanian and Yugoslav oil though. Also he has mostly stopped Air Sorties and I have killed a lot of the German oil burning units
I have made too many mistakes to win this game, but I hope to limit it to a minor victory.
Re: ncali's Axis kick my but!
some more pictures, although I think I have missed a couple of turns
everything continues as before - that is nothing goes my way, I always seem to miss by 1 step etc...
