Grand Campaign East - I should be winning the war

Post by Herald611 »

I have been playing the various DLC campaigns for the war in the east. I have had an unbroken string of decisive victories. If my efforts had an actual effect on the course of the war, my panzers would be pushing into Manchuria by now. I know this might be jard to do, but it would be nice if you could actually win the war as the Germans in the DLC campaigns.
There is no such thing as "overkill". There is only "keep firing" and "time to reload".

It's an interesting topic that's come up before, why isn't someone with all DV winning the war? Well the scale of the DLC is the major contributor to this. Your CORE is simply too small in the grand scheme of things to change the entire outcome of the war. A few divisions with outstanding victories will win battles, but won't win the war. ;)

That said, it is possible in DLC 1945 to change history and win the war, but for the majority of them the idea was to re-recreate strictly historical battles not fictional ones. That's what the bonus unlocked scenarios are for though.

Here your efforts have a direct sometimes dramatic effect on the war as you will have to take the russian bear head on and prevail in the great struggle for russia or being submitted to an attrition war and finally overrun by an ever increasing amount of russian divisions, tanks and aircraft.

As supreme commander east its up to you lead the Wehrmacht to decisive victory or complete failure...

- 77.000 hex map
- map 332 width - 232 height
- accurate recreated living terrain spanning from Berlin to the front yard of the Ural and from Finland to Baku
- over 2000 map strings
- more than 1000 citys and villages with their correct names
- accurate river courses
- mathematically calculated army strengths on both sides to recreate the historical background
- absolute strategic and operational freedom in an accurate historical setting
- real russian production figures
- production centers/oil fields provide prestige/industrial power
- russian counteroffensives
- lead all axis allied armys
- hundreds of units
just to name a few core features

I know this is a shameless plug, I go wear sackcloth an ashes later..., but its difficult to promote mods as only few poeple seem to bother about the mod fourm and consecuently are not aware of things in developement...how about a way to promote mods a bit more effectively in the forum ?..Is there any interest from the companys/dev side to promote modifications anyway ? Once AK is out this is something which seriously should be looked into > Mod Support
Civ IV got a whole official expansion containing only user mods > Beyond the Sword...so where there is a will, well... :P

Keep the shameless plugs coming Chris, it looks excellent. I'm looking forward to your mod even more than Africa. Best of luck with it

Sounds cool, but I am very afraid of what the turn processing time will be like and how the heck one's supposed to keep track of what'll be happening all over the place

Do you know what the turn processing time was on huge maps in the late games of Civ II with max Civilizations around ?
I expect the AI turns to be 5-7 minutes but if you disable both "show AI movement" "show AI attack" then this may be quicker but of course it will be more difficult to keep track of enemy military operation...after all PzC East is meant to be Grand Scale Strategy where you really need to carefully plan your stuff and overall strategy...so I guess a player turn can easily be 30 minutes with planning and evalutating recon info...for people who like grand strategy complexity and time is of no concern anyway..as well I think it could be interesting to watch the AI to counter along a huge front ...
dont forget that hexfield boardgamers play on huge maps placed in big rooms and sometimes have hundreds and hundreds of unit chips/counters to check...
this a bit the filosofy of PzC East...no quick game here but long indepth fun and mental challenge on long rainy/snowy winter sundays for example
