Polish-Lithuanians against the Russians, 1610 AD.

I couldn't find it in any FoG battle list, but maybe I didn't look in the right place or is under a different name. Maybe there are no game troops available yet for such a late period battle. Anyway, it looks interesting.

Not me, Zeabed. I did a version of Kinsale, which happened in 1601, so you could extend the period covered by the game by another 9 years! :D

Good point pete. Now for a good Polish-Lithuanian translator to interpret the source material!

Came across this today, Zeabed. Some useful background information for sure . . .

Do you plan to make this scenario? Or maybe we could collaborate?

A stunning resource! What detail on the entire array of warcraft for that period of time. Thank you for finding and sharing that link, pete. What a treat, an entire book digitalized, including graphics and illustrations.

I'm not planning to make this scenario, just wondering if anyone such as you was aware of this battle. I tend to obsess too much on historical detail, frequently in detriment of balance and playability, I'm afraid. Hell, I'm still a newbie. But I keep trying to correct my few scenarios (qv Crecy and Thymbra), which I'm currently revising yet again. I think that battle was made for your designing arts, pete. Go right ahead if it beckons to you.

Another excellent resource here. Scroll down about one-third of the way to find some mention of Klushino including a short film showing the famous Polish "winged hussars". I noticed that heavy muskets on stands were being used in the battle. There is no way to replicate these troops in FOG at the moment so I think it best if this scenario is left until we have FOG:Renaissance for the PC.

That's what I thought. It's important to have the right troops, that's one of (several) problems in modding Thymbra for the computerized FoG. Thanks for the Klushino tip, but did you mean the page at the end of your original link or is there something missing in your last post?

I've read several of the chapters in the original link. Stunning imo. The one on the Polish armies of the Renaissance is very interesting. This book undoubtedly fits the bill as a resource for the upcoming FoG Renaissance additions.

Yes, I have started to read it too. And be sure to check out all the various links as well because there are lots of interesting articles to read about the Renaissance period.

With regards to representing firearms in FOG at the moment - basically the development of firearms went "handguns" - "arquebuses" - "muskets" (often on a stand) - but we only have medieval handgunners astroops. Consequently the arquebusiers in my scenarios are really underpowered in terms of shooting by about 50%. In terms of artillery I suppose that the most important development in the 16thC was tha the bigger guns were mounted on carriages so that they could be moved on the battlefield.

With another FoG edition, this time covering all the way to the late Renaissance, we could arrive at the threshold of a FoG thirty years war edition. Lots of battles and campaigns there!
