DLC 44 understanding mission problem help please

Post by surcouf888 »

Hi,

I have a problem with the first mission of 44 dlc pack. The objective is easy to undestand (not for me ;-( ) :"Escort at least 4 supply carriers to sector A supply airfields"
I do it and unload in each airfield the armies (bridge engineer); I play with these units like the others. At the 4th unit, the game don't stop for Decisive victory.
At the end, i have just a marginal victory???

I made just an attempt. I really like this game but i don't want to do this scenario an another time for the same results (3 hours, yes i'm like a turtle).

Where is my mistake? I could see the 4 sector A in the middle, is another one on the map i couldn't see with fog? I don't think soo.Is the planes don't be unload ?
or just the supply units don't have to move from the airfields ?

I'm french, it's the fist time i don't understand the objective, arghhhhh

Thanks to help.

Private joke for french native: "Where is the umbrella, david ?" ;-)))))

I think they just need to be on the airfield. You don't unload them.

It doesn't matter if they are loaded or unloaded - they just have to be located on the airfields. I won a DV there with 3 of them unloaded, and once I moved the 4th over an 'A' airfield, the scenario ended. During the game I even moved one of the unloaded units to a different airfield because the Russian attack was coming uncomfortably close to the airfield he was on. I think there are 5 'A' airfields to choose from. It's probably best to unload them once they arrive, otherwise you have to protect them with fighters from the ever present Russian fighters.

Speaking of that scenario, I had one of those 'dumb AI' moments that I'll always remember with a smile. During one of the counter-attacks, one of the overstrengthed Russian Lieutenants in a KV-85 parked himself right underneath my JU 87G tank killer. He wasn't around long enough to regret it though, after the Stuka attack and a follow up with my top Me 410A bomber, there wasn't much left but a grease spot for the tanks to clean up :)

tks Mooseman and marty for the reply. THey have to be located on the A Airfields. Arghhhh... My surname is homer ;-)

Another dumb ai exploit : 2 katyusha alone in front of 2 panther 5-star Nice nice...

Another thing i find : i re-take south gold city and when a massive attack come, i go away. 2 turn after, i re-take the town (the ai just let an infantry unit to guard it) ant all the russian armies change attack direction and come another time. 3 time i do this and the party was won. In the same time I made the same attack with west town near the border.

Result: The central zone is really really nice to go to holiday ;-)

I ran into exactly this same problem in one of the '41 scenarios (Demyansk?). For future scenario design purposes, perhaps it would be helpful to create an immobile "supply depot" unit that appears when a supply transport is unloaded in a mission of this type. If the player needed to place a different ground unit on the hex for some reason (to defend the airfield, say, or transport a different unit), the "supply depot" unit would have to be disbanded.
