Historicon July 20-21

http://www.historicon.org
Note its in Fredericksburg, VA this year. New venue

Friday
Field of Glory Renaissance Wars of Religion.
9 AM - 9:30 PM
15mm 800pts. 4’ x 6’ table. Catholics versus Protestants. Armies allowed: Essentially any army that fought in one of: the Thirty Years War (1618-1648), the English Civil War (1639-1649). We will include the conflicts immediately around and associated with those in those years. Players will either enroll as a pair or be put into a pair – one catholic and one protestant. The match ups will be by pairs. So one pair of Catholic and Protestant armies will play versus another pair of players. The Catholic battling the Protestant on separate tables and vice versa. So there will be a Catholic and a Protestant champion in addition to a pair winner. Additionally we will track the victories of the forces of religion on a map of Europe so players can see the War and Tournament progressing. If you have an army that you think may fit into this event that isn’t obvious, please email an inquiry to Hazelbark2005@yahoo.com.
Round 1: 9am; Round 2: 2:30pm; Round 3: 7pm.
GM: Marc Crotteau
If we have enough interest we will expand to 25mm too. Please contact us.

Saturday
15/25mm Field of Glory Renaissance Open
9 AM - 11 PM; One version of a legal 800 pt list from any published FoG: R army list bookH. Each version must use the same and geographic restrictions. 15mm on 6x4 tables, 25mm on 8x5 tables.
Round 1: 9 AM; Round 2: 2:30 PM; Round 3: 7 PM.

Any sense about the outlook for 25s? If enough people say they are going to play 25s I might be interested in making the trip.

At this point I don't know. I know we have some interested people, but can't tell you for certain.

People who are interested in playing 25mm should contact Hazelbark or me, on this forum, via a PM, or offline. (My email address for these purposes is juvenileshark @ yahoo.com.) That way we will get a notion of whether 25mm is a viable event in time to let people make plans.

I was hoping for something on Thursday, as I have to run my Soccer games, Friday and Saturday. I am trying to work it out so that I am running Soccer games on Friday and my dad run the Saturday games to give me at least one free day. I will probably be available for the Saturday Open.

Does this mean that I bring Tupi to fight in both tournaments? Colonial Portuguese don't really fit in ancients.

We know you bring Tupi to Ancients, Renaissance, Napoleonics, WW II, Space Opera and Soccer.

And every game is the same. You either die ignominously. Or you hide in terrain ignominously and then we rashly attack you for fun.

Well the Brazilian Soccer team is fantastic and I haven't lost with them yet. And the Brazilian WWII army is a good light infantry force. Just get some armor support and they can and will overrun anyone you put in front of me.

The funny thing is the the Tupi have never managed to have a fight in Brasil. Everyone chooses other terrain types and most times the Tupi are fighting in the steppes. When I played agaisnt a Swiss army, I think he managed to find the steppes in Switzerland to fight in.

I call it judicious use of natrually occurring obstacles.

Would a Polish-Lituanian Commonwealth Army from Clash of Empires dated 1631 be allowed in the Wars of Religon Tournament?

I would think that you could make a good case for it. It would of course fight on the Catholic side, but I think there might be quite a few Swedish armies so they might be needing more Catholic ones.

For which touney - If you are doing the Friday One (TYW/ECW) I have a royalist army I can bring. If it is for the Saturday, I can bring you the dreaded Tupi. My Chinantec will not be ready either.

If you got a "free" loaner army from Walt, I would wonder what the real price is gonna be? :-)

Alas, I now cannot come.. Because some crackheads broke into my house and stole my tv and xbox among other things.. I am now spending money on an alarm system, instead of coming out on vacation. :(

Andy,

I am sorry to hear that it happened.
Did you have the serial numbers for the electronics? It really helps in recovery if you do.
