Russian & Prussian army Spring 1813

Post by Scrumpy »

How would you recreate the army from Lutzen with these lists ? As far as I have read only the Autumn Prussians are allowed to be used in combined army lists.

Please see top thread on ToN.

There is a discussion of the missing prussian cavalry from the 1813 list and whether a mixed army should be permitted.

The book is for a generic list, for a specific battle you can create a scenario with a list valid for that battle only.

Simpleton,

Niether the Russians or the Prussians fought alone for the first half of 1813 and took part in several battles together.

We are not talking about an odd battle, we are talking about the whole campaign.

As there is a number of list based around the 100 days of Waterloo, why not a list that covers this campaign?

Lutzen and Bautzen are multi corps battles so the Prussians and Russians can field multiple corps based on actual orbats for those battles and according to game design use the Corps restrictions of ToN - or not- . We created the tri nation concept especially for the later period of 1813 for a single Corps level game involving 3 out of 4 of tha main nations .

Looking just now at the orbats from Lutzen and Bautzen ( Digby Smith) the mixing of Russians and Prussians in Corps or Corps level commands is quite marginal and not very common. Not enough in my view to allow for the general importation/exportation of divisions betwen them. There were also command control issues still around for the two allies at that time so not allowing that in this earler stage is a way of reflecting that, by comparison with the French who still at least had a unified command.
