Hint Pop-ups

Pip,
I recently had bad issue with the install of 2.0.5 beta update. I ended up having to delete whole game 2 times before I finally got up to speed with the current 2.0.4 build.
The prob I have now is...everytime I start the game it acts like it is the first time I have ever played. I keep getting all these pop-ups, I continue to have to relog into MP everytime and such.
Is there any mods to the "Option" file that I can do to change it to where I have played all campaigns and am not new to playing? I changed the setting for campaign like was stated to 255, and I also moved the music to 0 cause it would never save my settings. Like I stated...It acts like everytime I fire up the game its like the first time I have played it.

Sorry, tried to upload copy of my Option txt file and it wouldnt let me. If you have an email I can send it to will do that...Incase you see something wrong with that file. Or, if you need some other file just give me a howler and will try and post or send it to you. thx.

The best thing to try is deleting the whole BBCBA folder from My Documents\My Games. It sounds like some kind of permissions issue preventing the game from writing out the preferences file.

Pip, I tried it....didnt work.
Its not too big a deal...just kinda annoying with all the pop-ups....is there anyway to disable them? Change something in the Options folder??

Ah - with the server message bug it is failing to save on exit. That is the issue. The message should stop showing at the weekend, when normal service will be resumed. I'd forgotten about that.

As a very hacky workaround, you could try changing the 9th and 17th numbers in the first VALUES entry (the large one) to 1 and 2 respectively, and see if that solves the popups.

Strange. It looks just like mine and so it should work. Note that the beta and the main game have their own options files.

Pip, I only have the Regular game now. I had deleted the beta one, do to what has happened with last install. I am not sure what is up...

Pip, the initial part of my problem has been resolved...I still get the ingame hints that keep popping up...Is this because I have not played through games in the campaign? I already played through everything before I had to do the reinstall...so, dont really want to play through again. I am just playing MP now. I put the "255" number in so it unlocked everything. Will the hints stop after awhile?? they are getting annoying.'

They 'wind down' - in that you will get a lot initially to drive the point home, then less and less after the first 3-4 times (in theory). You should be able to quit the game without any problems now, so it should start to save the progress correctly and the popups should go away.
