In order to see how far a unit can move, I often select a unit, just to see where it can go. Then I deselect it by left-clicking on it again, and do the same thing with another unit. I may do this selecting and deselecting several times before moving.
This works fine until you come to air units that are stacked with other units. In that case, left-clicking simply toggles between the two units. As far as I can see, there is no way to deselect either unit!
Instead, I have to deselect in a completely roundabout way, by finding another unit that is stacked alone, clicking on that unit to activate it, and then re-clicking to deselect it!
Not only is this ridiculously labourious, but you can often end up moving units by mistake, e.g. if you inadvertantly click on a land unit when you have an air unit selected.
I find this so annoying that I would probably prefer it if you only toggled between air and land units using the toggle button on the right-hand panel. That would at least be more logical and consistent than having left-click do different things, depending on whether units are stacked in a hex or alone.
At any rate, it seems to be a strange and unfortunate oversight that there is no straightforward way to deselect stacked units. Or perhaps there is, and I just haven't discovered it?
