Weird initiative Dice

I don't know if this is a legitimate issue or not, but I am using FoG 1.8 on the Mac, and it seems virtually every single time I accept an open challenge, (perhaps at least the last 10 in a row) the opposing player wins initiative by rolling a 6. Not a 5, not a 4, always a 6.

Just curious if this is further evidence of my insanity, or if other people are seeing something similar?

As a follow up, I have accepted several more, and am getting the same result. I have not won initiative in at least a dozen games in a row, and my opponent always rolls 6.

If this is an issue it will disappear when the new version is ready but until then there is nobody to look in to the code for the old version. HexWar no longer develops the game.
