1.03 Beta Patch Issues

Post by Magpius »

After downloading and successfully installing the patch from the Matrix members area.
The game now no longer runs.
I get the usual front screen, but when I press play...nothing.

Does not run from within game directory. ie running game from the commander.exe file
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Some help here would be appreciated.

The patch only works if you bought the Slitherine version?

Then why would a beta patch be available for download from Matrix...and I had to register my serial number with them to get the patch in the 1st place.
I hope you are right Dave, because at the moment, game is completely stuffed! (short of a reinstall from original download).
I hope that when the final patch is posted, this issue is resolved.

The original patch announcement did say it would only work with the Slitherine version and the final release patch would work with the Matrix version. It is frustrating as I would like the chance to do some testing but was not aware of the version problem when I originally purchased.

ditto.
I would have purchased from Slitherine, had I realised there was going to be a difference in product.
But Matrix were the first to offer it for sale.

Almost every game that is released has multiple pacthes and you have to grab the correct patch for your version. Every language has its own installer and patches. Matrix is just one of our many publishing partners for the game. We release beta patches through our site and our version first. Maybe you are used to Matrix being the only publisher for a game, but that is not the case here. Matrix asked if they could release the beta so we gave them the files. If you are having problems with their version please contact their tech support.

You need the English Slitherine patch for the English Slitherine version. If you have the Matrix version you need the Matrix patch.

Hey guys I bought from Matrix and I was able to get their beta patch working, though at first it didn't work.
When I installed first I had applied patch v1.02 but not its hotfix, then after applying the matrix beta patch 1.03 the game refused even to launch, saying there was an error with my serial number.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, applied patch v1.02 and its hotfix and then the beta patch 1.03 from Matrix and I got the game running with v1.03.
I have not played much, not say nothing I just tried moving some units and attacking and it worked, don't know if the changes are working properly or if the game locks up, there shouldn't be any problems though, pitty I just don't have the time to play.

Hope this little info helps you.

There appear to be some problems with the Matrix patch and we have notified them and they are working on it. You need to post on their forum as we are not involved in building their installer I'm afraid :(

I did post in their forum, but since the above members said they downloaded the patch from Matrix and had some problems I just thought my case could be useful to them.

this is not an issue with the installer, the commander.exe file refuses to run, after a 'successful' installation.
program loads 45-65Mb then drops out.

Yes it is - it is related to Java. Java creates the exe when it is installed which is why it is best to use a Java installer.

We've informed them but they seem to be unable to re-produce the problems so far. I'm not sure what else to suggest :(
