I think this is intended. Against an equal opponent the result should be a minor victory in most cases for the winner. This is also true for the Allies. The Allies should normally not win before 1945 if the Axis player is about equal. So I find myself wondering now, as Max did at the beginning of his AAR, how can Axis win anything more than a Minor Victory in this game, assuming a decent opponent?

I want to thank Max again and again for a fantastic game. Not only is he a brilliant opponent, but he's a fun and interesting guy to correspond with. The 'diplomatic' exchanges in our emails all these weeks have been half the fun of our game.
I would like to reverse roles and take on Max with me playing the Axis. I'm 100% sure he'll make mincemeat out of me. This gets me to thinking--the only reason I was able to pull this off was because I was playing Allies. To put it simply, Max is just plain a better player than I am. He outfoxed me on numerous occasions in this game. He lost, as the Germans so often lose, by sheer weight of attrition by use of their superior resources. This just highlights to me how very, very difficult it is to win as Axis against a good opponent. This was illustrated too in the Joe Rock v Morris game that was running parallel to ours.
