Convert FoG from PC to Mac

Hi guys

we're happy to say we now have a way to convert from PC to Mac. If you have the PC version of Field of Glory for just $9.99 you can also get the Mac version.

Please note, this does not issue you a serial number so you must already have one for your PC version. You will be able to continue your Multiplayer games if you use the existing PC serial number.

Another point to note - The current version we have mastered for Mac is only 1.3.3 so you will need to use the updater to get up to 1.7.1.

This is a new process so please let us know if you have any problems.

Yes thats right - but it only gives you one MP account so one player can continue games on either machine but you can't have 2 different people one on the Mac, one on PC, as you only have one serial and one MP account.

Fedem, how long is it going to be before someone works out if they are losing a game on one machine they can continue playing and try to win the game on the other? I can just see someone with their front room full up with laptops trying to beat pantherboy or eric!

No expansions are valid across both PC and Mac.

Hi Ian!

Is there any other way to download v1.7.1 or the recent v1.8 patch without using FoG's built-in updater? I recently converted from PC to Mac my FoG & tried the updater. I've got a feeling it is downloading all patches from 1.3.3 to 1.7.1 as it it downloading 19 patches!?! As I don't have the fastest cable connection in the world, it is now showing 6 hours to download the 3rd patch.

Hi Iain. I have the opposite question. I have FoG with all of the expansions installed on my Mac but I have the impression that the upcoming version may be released initially only on PC. Is there a process for me to move from Mac to PC?

The upcoming version will have Mac and PC from day 1. At least that is the plan!

If we get enough demand we can add a Mac to PC option but hopefully it wont be needed.

My current computer is a Mac, but I just ordered a PC (I'm going to run Linux but dual-boot into Windows for gaming), so I was wondering about this stuff, too, and hoping I could convert my Mac-based FoG over to the PC (or at least be able to use the army packs I've purchased).

Army packs definitely work. If you want to continue MP games then you need to use the same base serial for PC and Mac. This means if you did buy it don't use the new serial issued - use your old one.

What if you just want to purchase FoG for Mac outright as first-time customer? I am a complete newbie to FoG...so just to confirm...

For any of the expansions, regardless of platform do you need to purchase the base product of FoG...then you can choose any of the expansion packs for the appropriate OS?

I did not see the Mac version of base product...but I want to buy some of the expansions for Mac, especially because of the promo prices.

Just buy the Mac version - this is only for people who want to move from PC to Mac.
