Aristides,
I tried the password you provided on all four of the challenges you have up and it didn't work for any of them.
Pw provided was: aristides

While we are waiting for the final results for Spring, I'll give you some advance warning for Summer. You will be choosing two opponents to fight, and may optionally use a 'foreign mercenary army' for one of the battles - these armies will be from SAS. You must declare in your challenge if you are using foreign mercenaries, but you are not required to say which list. FM armies may not have ICs. Just to reiterate, use of an SAS list for one of your challenges is entirely optional.

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
It seems there should be some cost for using a mercenary army however. Perhaps the size of the army should be slightly smaller than normal, e.g. 450 instead of 500 points, or possibly there should be a modifier in the results formula for using foreign mercenaries to reflect the overhead of subsidizing the mercenaries, e.g. maybe use a 200 point base instead of 250 points for the first term in the formula. (50 points may be too much or too little in either case as a modifier but ther should be some cost incurred compared to using a native army.)keyth wrote:While we are waiting for the final results for Spring, I'll give you some advance warning for Summer. Excellent. I do need points, and the easiest way to do so is a surprise attack with an army the enemy doesn't know I have. It will be a glorious victory. But who shall be my target?

Maybe you should stay home and slaughter your own mercenaries, thus saving yourself the journey!Tiavals wrote:Excellent. I do need points, and the easiest way to do so is a surprise attack with an army the enemy doesn't know I have. It will be a glorious victory. But who shall be my target?

This is a valid point that Chris raises and I did give it some thought, but have erred on the side of simplicity!batesmotel wrote: It seems there should be some cost for using a mercenary army however. The prime reason for this departure from the norm is to inject a bit of 'difference' into a season, so don't want to do anything that actively discourages use of a mercenary army. How about a 10% renown tax? So if you win, you only score 90% of the normal base total, and if you lose, you score 110% of the base total. Camps and commanders would be scored as per usual. Or possibly a flat 'fee' for using them, effectively spending some renown?

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Ten % renown tax would be fairest, a flat fee would be hardest on those with the lowest renown and hence not fair. I'm all for new armies as I'm sick of seeing Dailami.keyth wrote:This is a valid point that Chris raises and I did give it some thought, but have erred on the side of simplicity!batesmotel wrote: It seems there should be some cost for using a mercenary army however. I haven't gotten a turn from Aristides since Thursday. Since this has been a long season do you want to close it out and start the next campaign season?

Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
I (Ghaz) 18/40 beat Phlewis (Dailami) 31/30
I was present on the field of battle. Phlewis was not. I didn't lose any commanders - I don't think my worthy opponent did either.
No camps were looted

Nope, I didn't lose any commanders either.
Re: To Tame a Land Redux!
Sorry for the interruption in service, I was away last week. I'll be updating the spreadsheet later and we can roll on into the next season... Stay tuned!

Hope we continue soon. Would be a shame if this one dried out.
