The game is so dark, how do I make it brighter?

I just purchased BA but the game screen doesn't display like the bright scenery in the game trailers. What is wrong?
Everything is so dark. In the first scenario (Desert) if I move the cursor towards the fort, then that area lights up, but when I move it back to my units then it becomes dark again. Why? It dosen't remain lit like in Panzer Corps and the way it is presented in the BA promos. What do I need to correct?

What platform are you playing the game on? PC, Mac, or iPad?

It sounds like a driver bug in the lighting or something like that. Can you try running in a window and/or with shadows turned off to see if that helps, to try and work out what could be causing it. Also, are you drivers up to date? You can generate a DX diagnostic using the info at the top of this Tech Support forum which might also help us narrow down the problem.

If you can get a screenshot of the issue that would also be helpful.

I tried w/no shadows, but no success. I've attached the Dxdiag file as a zip. I can't get a screenshot zipped because of the 256Kb restriction. BTW, Panzer Corps plays just fine, so I'm not sure what's causing the lighting problem. Thanks for the help.

It looks like you have a Geoforce 2 MX video card? This is so far below min spec that I'm pretty impressed the game runs at all

. nVidia stopped driver development for this card in 2005 (your drivers are dated 2008 which is probably the last date that the driver releases included the MX driver package).

So the darkness is probably a lighting issue interaction between DirectX and the drivers, but it's not really something we can fix.

You could try grabbing the beta version and seeing if that works more successfully. There are some changes to the render pipeline and you never know, they might just solve the problem in some way.
