Sealion on iPad?

Post by vakarr »

Wow, I've been playing this game every spare minute and loving it, being able to slip the iPad into the backpack and play anywhere is terrific, (except when a finger slips and a tank goes backwards instead of forwards!).
How do you turn off the music? I don't mind it but other people nearby do!

I would like to play the Sealion campaign, does it work on an iPad?

By the way, the game says that the 2 pdr and 6 pdr AT guns couldn't fire HE shells. This is not correct, but in an example of typical WW2 British bungling, the HE rounds did exist but they weren't issued!!!

Thanks and glad you are enjoying it :)

Sealion is in the iPad version - you just need to unlock it with an in app purchase.

Music volume can be changed on the settings menu - just drag music volume to 0 and it will be off?

OK I haven't found the settings menu yet, possibly as I always go back to the game I am playing rarther than a startup screen, maybe you have to finish the campaign first (or are my fingers too big and/or the icons too close together?) . I think what the game needs most are "deselect" and a "deselect all" buttons, as I waste a lot of time trying to select the right unit or trying not to shoot at the wrong thing and its very hard to get to a state where nothing is selected.

To purchase any of the addons, you just browse into them (you can explore the addons and check out the mission briefings as you like), then hit select as if to start the mission, and if you need to buy them to play then you will be prompted to do so via the in-app purchasing system.

With regard to deselection, there is an auto-deselect option available on the options screen (hit the wrench/spanner on the top left of most screens).

Cheers

Yes I just discoverd autodeselect and it works well but there are times when you have a unit selected and you want to select another without moving the exisiting unit - a deselect button would still help.

I finished the North Africa campaign without ever saving a game - I think that's the first time I've ever done that with a computer game. I never got five stars even when I had fulfilled all the possible misson objectives - does each mission have five stars to get? It would be helpful if the end-game screen explained which objectives I didn't get, instead of just showing some stars with ticks.

When I click to download Sealion via in-app purchase it just sits there with a "waiting..." screen until the screen blanks and the iPad shuts down. I checked that I do have a working internet connection. I've never done an in-app purchase before, is there some setting I have to change to allow it?

Most objectives are shown ingame in the top left, showing whether you got them or not.

You can deselect any unit by tapping its unit panel bottom left when it is selected.

You might have to enable in-app purchasing in the General->Restrictions area of your Settings.

Thanks, most writers agree that Sealion would have been impossible or at least the sort of Stalingrad -scale disaster portrayed by this app. Anybody who would like to see how Sealion could have succeeded might like to read this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_JIBYc ... o1WG8/edit

OK, now I checked, I already have apps allowed to be installed in restrictions. Is there anything else I should try?

There is a seperate option for Allow In-App Purchases. For some reason it is lower down with the Allowed Content at the bottom of the restrictions page.

OK I found that the option was turned on in restrictions but you had to turn on restrictions for it to apply, downloaded at last, more sleep lost, thankyou! I wish that the tutorial mentioned that tapping the unit picture deselected, that is a great help. Also, I just discovered the annoying thing that was making my screen jump all over the place - the minimap! I have been accidentally touching it all this time. It's too small to make much sense- Is it possible to make the minimap bigger or to move it somewhere else on the screen? Can I download the manual for this game? Could you add a sticky to the forum with the answers to these questions in lieu of a manual?

Making the iPad version of the manual available for download is a good idea. The first tutorial message does in fact mention that tapping the unit panel deselects a unit, but perhaps we need to reiterate it later in the tutorial as well. You can disable the minimap in the options screen if you desire. I will look at the minimap logic and ensure it is disabled when doing any of the drag or rotate gestures.

Thanks for the feedback, it is all useful.

Cheers
