Transfer of Product to New Owner

Post by Old_Warrior »

What is the procedure for selling these products to a new owner? I own Matrix version of the game and all of the modules. Looking to sell the games. My other thread did not get an answer. Can you tell me if I can just hand over the serial numbers and the new owner be able to download the modules? Or do I need to give them the installer along with the serial codes?

Need to know so I can sell my game as soon as possible.

I worked my butt off for you guys making scenarios - the least you can do is answer my questions.

I'm sorry we don't have an official process for transferring games. There is no infrastructure to support this and Plimus (as with all other digital vendors) do not allow you to transfer sales to another customer and will not provide download links to anyone except the person who bought. This is for obvious reasons such as their bandwidth and tech support costs. They cant afford to provide the service multiple times for free.

That is NOT true. John Tiller Software has a nice procedure whereby you can sell your copy of their games to someone else if you are not satisfied.

So there is no way I can get a partial refund either I guess?

Ok, if that's true then I stand corrected but I've never heard of it before. It's not a service anyone we've ever used offers and so we're unable to offer it.

You've played this game for a significant amount of time and something recently has put you off it which is fine. You don't have to continue to play but we really can't offer a refund because you've decided to move on. I'm sure you can understand why.

No, not really. If I buy a product I should be able to sell it. You give folks a dead end here. And it is not just recently I have begun voicing my displeasure with the product.

It sounds to me like you are not going to look into transfer of ownership and I had no idea that this was what would happen if I decided to sell the product. Therefore, I ask that you mention in your Acknowledgement statement that the user cannot transfer the game. I did not see that anywhere in the agreement. If you can show it to me fine. If not ... well if I had the funds I would take you to court over it.

At the request of players and because we hate it we have no DRM on our games.

The only way to allow transfer of ownership in any meaningful way is to have a DRM which authenticates you every time you play. Otherwise there is no way to make sure you have removed the game from you drive before passing it on.

We have no intentions of adding any DRM to the games unless it is something players really want to see and I just don't see that happening.
