Mod to identify divisions?
I'm looking at the great project of chris10 "Struggle for Russia" and I've noticed the symbol or number of a division near the plate of the unit, it's simply a great idea !!!
Is there a way to implement this feature in the game? I always divide my units in 3-4 division and it could be usefull to recognize them at a glance!

The better way is to see the divisional signata with the unitcard. In my upcoming mod H.Balcks Panzer Corps with two first playable campaigns (18th tank division in Army group center Barbarossa and 1st tank division Fall Gelb) and 2 big map MP scenarios (Battle around Mlawa and Normandy-D-day+8) you can use divisional headquarters which produce prestige every round (if they not destroyed !).

thnx, very kind of yougatto wrote:I'm looking at the great project of chris10 "Struggle for Russia"
For the main game this can not work as for every unit with a symbol there must be a unique entry in the equipment fileand a unique graphic in the unit folder which is not only a lot of work but would blow the unit folder and equipment file up to a ridicolous sizes...then there are different players,scenarios,playstyles,preferences...wanna run around with a division xyz in 1945 which has been destroyed already in 1943 ?..It simply wouldnt work well in the vanilla game Iam afraid...gatto wrote: and I've noticed the symbol or number of a division near the plate of the unit, it's simply a great idea !!!

Gatto I know this is probably a stupid qeustion, have you tried re-naming them and then grouping them by division name?
IE: From 1st Panzer IIIE to PzRgt.1/ PzLehrDiv.-----I know that fictious,I was just trying to show an example
I use the Elite Units and I'll give you a short example of my LSSAH OOB for SS-GTPG and the DLC's (battalion level).
I/SS PzG.1/LSSAH.... I/SS PzG.2/LSSAH .... I/SS Pz.1/LSSAH
II/SS PzG.1/LSSAH .... II/SS PzG.2/LSSAH .... II/SS Pz.1/LSSAH...............etc.
III/SS PzG.1/LSSAH ..... III/SS PzG.2/LSSAH.....
Here is Rgt. scale
SS PzG.1/LSSAH.... SS PzG.2/LSSAH ... SS Pz.1/LSSAH... SS Art.1/LSSAH
I know you probably already know about re-naming I was just showing you that you can group that way if you didn't

Re: Mod to identify divisions?
I think gatto is asking for a divisional symbol on the strength plate of each unit. Chris has done this for some of his elite units but, as he says, it would be a huge (nigh on impossible) job to do for most divisions.

Re: Mod to identify divisions?
Ok I've studied the matter
, thanks to Airborne in particular for his suggestions, I've learned something interesting about unit's naming!
..and ...
I've used a total different and unhistorycal name convention for my army
I need a name-convention which helps me to play and recognise my divisions and units speciality (attack, defense, initiative bonus) at a glance, and this is the result:
II /Pion.5/D1 or III /Art.605/M1 which stands for: division / unit type.regiment / unit bonus
I know it's totally historical inaccurate and fantasy made, but it works for me!
So this is my OOB for Operation Barbarossa:

This one is hand-made, I'm trying to find a way to make it in a more automatic mode with access excel or programming something ad-hoc...
