Post-Roman Britons

Hi everyone,

I'm a brand new player and just bought my first army: Post-Roman Britons. So far, I've demo'd the game once at my FLGS and really enjoyed it. Being a big fan of mobility and firepower, and having to choose between Mid-Repub. Romans or the Britons, I chose the Britons. The employee at my FLGS (who also performed the demo) said that I would most likely enjoy this army more than the Romans, but he couldn't tell me much on how they would play besides the fact that they were very offensive.

So, can anyone tell me about the Post-Roman Briton army from Wolves From The Sea? How they function and any experience with them?

hello,

i'm a french player. i'm sorry for my bad english level.

with DBM, i played Sub-Roman British. In FoG, this list is Post-Roman British. I do any parties with this army. i like this, because i'm breton (armorican, so celt).

i play with the maxima of the cavalry :
- Arthur's companions (4 cv Arm S)
- cavalry (6 cv arm S)
- 2 cavalry (4 cv pro S)
- 1 LH
too, i pay an ally (welsh). and i have :
- 2 BG of MF (8 pro A)
- 1 BG of LF (6 unp A)
to last, the infantry of the army is composed with :
- 3 Bg of HF (8 pro A)
- 1 Bg of HF (6 pro A) to rear support the others HF Bg for the cohesion test
- 2 Bg of LF (6 unp A archers)

the strategy with the army is simple :
- with the welsh allies, we attack a rough, and destroy a LF BG, perhaps MF.
- with the HF, we fix the opposit infantry. rarely, this infantry fight.
- with the Cv, we attack the opposite cavalry. often we are more numerous than the opposite cavalry, with the armoured cavalry on the first line, and protected in support.

Thanks. That actually does help a good bit. I'm still making the adjustment to thinking in more large scale tactics.

Anyone else have any experience with this army?

I hope you will come out for Pelicon II in Pensacola where I will be running a FOG Tournament. More details will be posted in a few days. But Bobe's Hobby House will be sponsoring the convention on July 14.

I'm actually one of the organizers at Pelicon II this year. I'm doing a Battletech demo from 11-1 pm so I may not get to play in the Tournament, although I would love to try to get in a game here and there if possible. Bob taught me how to play a few weeks back and I fell in love with this game.

You could play in rounds 2 and 3. Round 2 won't start until 1 at the earliest. May be closer to 1:30 depending on how fast round 1 finishes and lunch is over. It would be great to have 3 or 4 local guys this year. Wendell H. and Charles G. helped fill the field last year. Hope they can play this year as well. Bayou Wars has a five round tournament in June. It would be good if you could come over to New Orleans and play.

Assuming I can get my army assembled and painted by then, I would love to try to get to Bayou Wars.

As for Pelicon, given I have the time (I'm the secretary of the club and stuck handling setup/breakdown, and everything else no one volunteered to do) and the other players have no objections to me missing the first round, then sure I'd love to play. Like I said, I'm still very new.

As the referee and organizer of the FOG tournament, I can assure you there won't be any objection. If you want to play at bayou wars and need to borrow some figs to flesh out your army, let me know and I will see if we can get them together.

Shouldn't need the figs, but this is my first big army. I look forward to meeting you nonetheless. Where do you play in B-ham? Legion? I'm from that area originally.

I either play at mt house in Corner (near Warrior) or in the basement of the law offices of Cleveland and Cleveland on southside.

Cool. What made y'all decide on doing Tourney's on the Gulf Coast? Not that I'm complaining, but B-ham is a decent drive from here.

I have coordinated GCC tournaments in the region stretching from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, louisiana, Texas and now Florida for the last few years. Mike and Jonathan asked me to run one last year at Pelicon and since Mike travels to most of our conventions we wanted to help him out.

Very cool. I started going to Bobe's regularly last year and made some good connections. I started my minis career doing Battletech and now expanding into FOG. I'm the local Demo Agent for CGL and feel obligated to a Btech demo at Pelicon (which I consider my primary game, anyways). But beyond that, I planned on doing board games all day. But now that I've gotten in FOG, if I can grab a game of that, I would love too.
