Shooting

Post by david53 »

Hi There

Today i faced the famed english units in line a small unit, can a unit in line still fire at 6mu, with three dice?

Should I attack with a small unit even if I disordered the english line they would get 4 dice per half line less one per three ie 6 dice at defensive fire should i charge requiring 4s to hit have i got this right?

They fire as normal 1 unit at medium range.

I believe you have it right.

So if you are going to charge you charge just one end of the ext line so you get shot at 4 dice +1 for supporting. Is 5 take away 1 per 3 equals 4 dice.

Theoretically you get get hit twice and are now disordered. You don't charge and hope to blast them in the fire phase with your 4 dice becoming 3 hitting on 4s. With luck you get them to drop to waver. The shoot there 4+1 now lose 1 per 2. leaving them 3 dice and maybe you don't drop to waver. But if you don't rally then they will fire first next turn and between the two drop you to waver.

So I would say don't charge unless you have a bit more of an advantage or feel lucky. Charging up the center where they get both halves is asking to get driven off and wavered by fire.

This standing in a line can be used by any army from what i see and against an unremormed enemy Austria or Spain would add loads of shots should they charge.
