Looking at Bavarians 1809

Was not sure what approach to follow. Use the regiments or brigades (as per historical formations note from the book)

2 Regiments of foot, each approx 1200 men

Using the brigade model each division

Add some Heavy (French) cavalry to the army.

The 1809 Bavrain list is a full national list ( not based on 7th Corps alone) and can provide a division for the French Army of Dalmatia ( as we have labelled it) under Marmont ( to cover the very last days of the campaign after Wagram ) or a full Bavarian corps . I'd say having two large units in each division was over egging it from your point of view . You are not obliged to use the brigade model throughout ( or at all) as its only a "rule of thumb" mainly designed to ensure the sum of the parts does not exceed the whole - to reverse the usual maxim. By missing out the small Light Infantry unit option you are missing a real capability. I'd probably opt for a mix of say one division with two large units and two with small units plus the light infantry units . It depends a bit on how you want to use it . Then main list will give you a lot of flexibility.
