Re: DLC '45 #5 Interburg
Interburg
Starting prestige 4400
Ending prestige 564
DV on turn 18/18
Losses: 1x KV-1C
I decided to go with the defensive path, although the offensive path was tempting, going on the offense with a fairly weak core such as my own seemed irresponsible. Now, starting off I had 4400 prestige, enough to do some overstrengthening but not enough to completely overstrength all of my units. I also sold a 5 star strategic bomber so I could buy an ME-262. My other three fighters are merely FW-190s, but I thought that if I was going to buy a new fighter, even a green ME-262 could still be effective. It was sad to let the strategic bomber go, but I didn't think I was going to be going on any massive bombing runs anytime soon.
My strategy was pretty simple, try to hold a defensive line on the river for most of the map, except for the far north, and my goal was to keep a small group of units to defend the objective up there. My strategy worked pretty well but my losses were very heavy. Although I managed to hold out for the decisive victory, this was by no means a battle that I thought I would have been able to hold out indefinitely on. The number of Soviet units was staggering. I can't count the number of times that I thought I had finally managed to break up their offensive, only to be hit by another ridiculously huge wave of units. I was counting down the turns on that I had to hold out on this one.
The Red Air force was an even more disruptive force in this battle, slowly whittling down even my best units. My fighters performed admirably and shot down a lot of their planes but I didn't have enough fighters to defend all of my units.
Overall, another excellent scenario that captures the bleak hopelessness of '45.

Tearing it up already huh.
Your losses don't seem so bad so far, but your prestige is really nose diving.

Eh, my prestige with the core that I have imported has been nose-diving since at least 1943.
I am looking forward to some Bagration/Balaton-level losses in the battles to come. If this is going to be the end, hopefully some of my units will earn a spot in Valhalla.
