Pursuit of broken BG

Post by Polkovnik »

Gendarmes etc must continue to pursue even when they lost contact with the broken BG, unless they pass a CMT to stop pursuing. But when do they take the CMT ?
In our game this week my Gendarmes broke an enemy BG in his turn and pursued into difficult terrain, losing contact with the broken enemy BG. What can I do in my turn ? Can I charge another enemy BG ? Can I CMT to stop pursuing in the Manoeuvre phase and then move ?
As it happened I was in side edge contact with a different enemy BG after the pusuit. Can I turn to face this BG in the Manoeuvre phase ?

They take the CMT during the JAP.

Rout and pursuit moves happen during every JAP, including the CMT to stop pursuing. I'm assuming that means they can do nothing if they failed the CMT to stop pursuing, except in the JAP.

You should read pg 140-1, it's pretty clear.

First, you could have chosen to stop pursuing at the edge of the terrain that would have severly disordered them.

Second, any troops can choose to halt pursuit rather than contact fresh enemy if they pass a CMT to do so.

Third, if pursuers contact fresh enemy in any phase, it is treated as a charge on the contacted enemy adjuticated in the next impact phase. (And I'm not sure how you adjudicate side-edge contact in such a circumstance).
