Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
I have played a couple of friendlies now where I have been handicapped. Using a 325 pt army vs 350, won 4 lost 1 and drew 1. Only 1 was a very big win.
However and without repeating myself. I will enter 1 or 2 comps with a handicap system but that would be it.
If a handicap system was brought into all competitions I would stop playing completely, fact.
If players want to win so desperately then so be it (that is my take on the handicap system) but if they want to try and improve their game and look forward to the challenge of playing alleged better players with the intention of beating them on a level playing field in the future then great.
Pete if you intend to open up a new thread about handicapping I will most certainly be against you.
Our last few debates should have got the message across to you by now. Out of the 100s of players playing this game, there were only a very small handful who were for a handicap system. I think that says it all and so you should leave it alone.
My game vs Chris is nearing completion, I am on 28/43 and Chris is on 30/43 so it is very close. I will most certainly lose 3 bps on his turn and as I am in his camp I could potentially pick up 3 to 7 bps, as I have 3 combats that I will win and should pick up 3 bps at least. However I am going to need to loot his camp for a possible win.

I can live with that, Eric.Pete if you intend to open up a new thread about handicapping I will most certainly be against you.
Nope. There is quite a bit of support for handicapped tournaments as part of what we all do. I will provide a basic handicapping system for people to use or ignore as they see fit. And your attempts to shut me up about this subject are ridiculous. Our last few debates should have got the message across to you by now. Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
My thoughts:
1) I prefer non handicapped tournaments and the chance to beat better players on equal conditions.
2) That doesnt mean I would not enter habndicapped tournaments if they are interesting. As the one we just played.
3) The army you play can also have a saying on the outcome of a game. So wouldn't be worth to try a small competition playing the same armies and see what happens?
Cheers

Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
Yes, it can - but I think the sample of results across the two tournaments is big enough to say that 1pt difference in the LOEG rating between players = roughly 25pts in the DAG in a 500pt game.Fedem wrote:3) The army you play can also have a saying on the outcome of a game. Is your game against davouthojo underway, Federico?

Back after a long weekend

Pete you suggested that I believe a while back and Hidde and I said to not touch the LOEG I did say IF.

Oh yes having the right terrain, right day of the month, maybe even seeing their opponents army first LOL
Pete if you intend to open up a new thread about handicapping I will most certainly be against you.
I can live with that, Eric.
Well we can agree about some things

I am not attempting to shut you up about it. I have never even mentioned anything about shutting you up. It's a freeish world and you do whatever you want. If the majority of players entering a competition want a handicapped sytem then so be it but if it is the minority then there should be no handicap system. But I couldn't really see a player being satisfied by beating somebody else who had a smaller army

Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
I have never, ever, suggested that all tournaments should be handicapped, Eric. You are making things up and you need to slow down and read things properly before you fly off the handle in future. I mentioned handicapping in relation to LOEG only if there had been a prior discussion and then general agreement about it. Go and check the text in the 3rd invitation thread (I will in a moment) - I even remember highlighting the relevant passages in big letters to make it easier for you.ericdoman1 wrote: Pete you suggested that I believe a while back and Hidde and I said to not touch the LOEG I did say IF.
EDIT:- yes, here we are, 4th post from the bottom of page 1 . . .

Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
Well Pete I am not flying off the handle, I have had a great few days weeks and so am in a very good mood but apologies I have been winding you up a little, I just couldn't help it:). I had read the previous comments (you had included a link to them) about handicapping etc so I know you were only looking at one or 2 comps, which is fine. They are your comps and you can do whatever you want with them.
The comps you have run have been very good so thanks.

It is over 2 weeks since he last moved in my game and he did not reply to my PM. What is the current state of play in your game, Federico? When did he last make a move? And TGM, is your game with davouthojo progressing at all?Fedem wrote:Anyone heard of Davo?
I am definitely going to wrap this competition up on 30/4 whatever happens as the Temporary League is starting on 1/5.

Havnt even started. As a peasant, I saw it my duty to wait for the noble to issue the challenge when he's good and readystockwellpete wrote:It is over 2 weeks since he last moved in my game and he did not reply to my PM. Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
What is the points score (roughly) in your game, Federico? Mine is 2-2 after ten turns and I probably have the better position (famous last words!). Nothing decisive though. Thanks for the update, TGM.Fedem wrote:We r on turn 10. My last move was on 18th April. As it stands I will award all 3 games to us peasants in the individual event and certainly declare mine and TGM's games "void" in the team event. I might count yours for the team event though, Federico, depending on the current score in your game.

Re: SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event
Right then, as I have heard nothing more from davouthojo I am going to bring this tournament to a conclusion. I do apologise to Federico and TGM that they were unable to complete their schedule of matches but it was due to circumstances beyond my control. The three unplayed or unfinished matches involving davouthojo will be awarded to Federico, TGM and myself as far as the individual event is concerned - and they will be deemed void for the team event.
Can I ask davouthojo to please resign out of the two games he has started but not finished in this competition so that they clear off the system asap?
So the final standings are . . .

5. Fedem....................5......1.....1.....3.....0.......6...........Peasant

The final score in the team event was Nobles 12 Peasants 0
