Well, interestingly, the UK has never fully repaid the debt owed to the USA from WWI. Neither has a lot of the money owed to Britain by other nations from WWI been repaid. By contrast the final repayment of the WWII loans was repaid in 2006.

There are still debts knocking around from the Napoleonic wars.

Horrifying how much debt can build up and for how long.
In spite of the Final Fantasy character it's pronounced sao-win after the Irish pagan god of death. I'm not a pagan but we're on a wargames website so I thought it fitting.
