where to check FM
probably asked a gazillion times but I can't find the answere so here is gazillion and one times
I'm playing a campaign at FM level. now I'm in DLC 40 and just finished Sedan with a decisive. either I'm getting better or I'm not playing at FM. how can I check the save file or is there another way to find out for sure I'm playing at FM?
Re: where to check FM
Funny you should mention this. I had been messing around with my files when I started the GC39, and even though I had selected the lieutenants level, the game seem to be playing at FM. I un-installed everything and started again and the game seemed to be working fine after that.
Re: where to check FM
Muddy, no messing with the files here. just all of a sudden I'm getting more prestige totals than when I was playing at colonel. wouldn't mind the idea of being better but sure would like to know if isn't just a pipe dream and I am getting better
Re: where to check FM
This is something we might have in the future, it is a feature that gets requested a lot.
If you play on Manstein though, you will always know you are on Manstein. Every enemy at 15 strength+ and conscripts at 20 strength are a constant reminder.

thanks for the info and it would be great to have the feature and a kill count per scenario
well back to the war. got to build some prestige pronto or the boys are going over the hill pretty soon
Re: where to check FM
asking you FM players again.
I'm supposed to be playing at FM level and just finished Demyansk Pocket. ok, that's great but my prestige is going up like crazy again. need to know if my prestige amount playing at FM is (((not))) abnormal. got total of 12045 on last turn of Demyansk Pocket.
here's what's got me questioning again. a camparison of my colonel level at last turn.
FM: 12045
Col: 5105
my FM core is strong with top of the line equipment.
my colonel core is a mix of no two units of a same kind. much weaker core. needed more elite replacements during scenarios but not that drastic as I remember to have such a lower total of prestige compared to FM level.
I got all decisives playing at FM. at colonel I got (1) marginal at Vyazma.
as you can see I did jump from colonel to FM level play. no general level play.
soooo, is my prestige total at end of Demyansk Pocket for FM level abnormal FM players

Re: where to check FM
If you mean abnormally high, I would say 'no'. There have been players who have claimed 20k prestige at FM. In my current campaign, withdrawing from Stalingrad should be made considerably easier by the 40k prestige I currently have in my savings account.

Re: where to check FM
I'm replaying the DLC at FM and I'm finding it comparatively easy compared to Colonel.
However I attribute this to the fact that PzC uses premade scenarios and after I've played them once, there are fewer surprises the next time around: - I know I need to be cautious around town X because there's usually several tanks waiting for me; I know I can be aggressive after I pass river Y because the AI doesn't usually leave the towns; I know I need more fighters in scenario A, and more infantry in Scenario B; etc.
Because I have the added level of intelligence it's not so much I'm playing much better as it is I can be much more efficient than when playing a completely unknown scenario.

that's what I needed to know and thanks. was concerned not being able to check and see if I'm actually playing at FM level.shawkhan wrote:If you mean abnormally high, I would say 'no'. thanks and that's what I was trying to kind of factor in for the prestige difference. knowing the map did save me many mistakes but I find myself getting sloppy with that knowledge and the extra prestige. in the back of my head there's that little devil saying "ah go ahead, you got lots of prestige for elite replacements"boredatwork wrote:Because I have the added level of intelligence it's not so much I'm playing much better as it is I can be much more efficient than when playing a completely unknown scenario.
just finished Sevastopol for a DV and found myself bulldozing my way in to that last objective city. haven't played Stalingrad scenarios but have read players comments on the forum about those Stalingrad scenarios. got to change my prestige attitude I can see already. Sevastopol woke me up again
Re: where to check FM
at deploy turn Storming at Stalingrad 42'. and have 13675 after rebuilds. got hammered at IIovIya and used a fair amount of prestige to keep my Core healthy. slowed way down on my attacks at Buzinovka Depot for the DV and had 12484 prestige left. I'm hanging around that 12K threshold since starting 42' keeping my Core at least to 10 strength during the battles.shawkhan wrote:If you mean abnormally high, I would say 'no'. looking at the map at Storming Stalingrad at first glance, I immediately thought of your comment here and said "self you might be in trouble prestige wise"
I have gots to check some Storming Stalingrad threads asap
Re: where to check FM
I was starting Stalingrad at FM with around 14k prestige. After i finished Stalingrad (Stalingrad, Docks and Ruins) i was down to around 6k prestige. Not all went into replacing losses tho. I upgraded 4 BF109 to FW190 as well. Still Stalingrad is going to take a major hit on your prestige.
Re: where to check FM
thanks, good to know. I'm preparing a strategy now and how my prestige might work before I dive in.Tarrak wrote:I was starting Stalingrad at FM with around 14k prestige. so far I haven't lossed a Core unit.....came reeeeeal close many a time for many units!!!!! cost me plenty of prestige but more important, I learned to use those turns up. man I don't want to lose them now trying to horde prestige
Re: where to check FM
I restarted my campaign from the beginning halfway through the '43DLC when my prestige dipped below 1000. Couldn't replace losses any more and I saw the handwriting on the wall. In my present playthrough I have been able to put some prior knowledge and anhanced playing skills to good use. I hope the 40k I have been able to amass will get me through '45.
Re: where to check FM
hey shawkhan, man O' man O' man O' man....just finished Storming Stalingrad and man O' man O' man O' man O' MAN I am glad that one is doneshawkhan wrote:I restarted my campaign from the beginning halfway through the '43DLC when my prestige dipped below 1000. I got the DV and narrowly didn't lose any Core units and I meeeeean narrrrrrowly
I never spent so much time looking at the turn count before....I MEAN EVER BEFORE
I was determined not to lose one Core unit if it cost me all my prestige
oh my so much fun
back to the prestige and some sanity: ended up with 10149 at battle conclusion. I also upgraded my 6 x BF 109G's to the FW 190A's during the battle. starting the Docks with 11899 prestige.
I hear ya on that 40K prestige. I sure hope I start to climb again. having to really think before I leap anymore to save as much prestige I can and still get the DV's. can't seem to break the 14K and hold.
well got to go and drive some splinters up my finger nails so I'm ready for round twooooooooooooooo
Re: where to check FM
the Docks prooved I can hang with the best
well maybe not the Kerensky and fellows Manstein best but hey, got to crawl before I can run
my best hat to you Manstein guys after playing Stalingrad Storming and Docks at FM.
ended with 10381 prestige and a DV for Stalingrad Docks. I'm not on the favorites list with the Italians though
my people go second when it comes to that first bite in the city. Italians said they hated taking point, but hey, I got to live with my people
going for Escape from Stalingrad with 8780 prestige after rebuild of Core. so that 6K might be close for me too when done with Stalingrad.
time to disobey orders and see if I'm on that proverbial favorites list making the Hungarians take point

Re: where to check FM
I'm at Orel deploy and have 7538 prestige in the bank left after rebuild Core. it looks like I'm losing ground prestige wise. got the decisives but costing prestige. not happy with a 10 strength unit now. keeping them at 11strength minimum. haven't lost a Core unit all this way from Poland but I'm getting the feeling I just might have to start all over again to build my prestige to at least to a comfortable level. your 40K is beginning to start writing on my wallshawkhan wrote:I restarted my campaign from the beginning halfway through the '43DLC when my prestige dipped below 1000. Re: where to check FM
What a coincidence! I am starting Orel today myself. I have purchased some Me 410s and Tigers so my 40k is now down to 35k at Deployment. All my guys are at overstrength as well. Things get expensive when everything you have is near the best. My infantry and towed artillery is now all in halftracks. Replacing losses will be fiendishly expensive I fear.

that's great!!!! wish I had your prestige thoughshawkhan wrote:What a coincidence! I am starting Orel today myself. just finished Orel for a decisive and slowly crawled for a small prestige gain after taking everything! a grandice totalice of 9043
well that wasn't the rub either. not only was HQ stingy with prestige, they want me to go to KURSK!!!
I'm supposed to save the day
oh well, took the south approach at Yakovlevo and gonna greet the Bear's new toys
don't know if you played Orel before and don't want to say anything about the battle if you haven't. what's costing me the most are my Pz IVD's. wish I would have stayed with the PzIII's. to each their own but there is where my style of play is costing me.
Re: where to check FM
when starting Yakovlevo I was given a prestige dump/bonus of 7000 prestige. to give me a total of 16043. I took it and praised the PzC god's for the blessing
purchased two new Elefant SPATS and upgraded 3 Panzer units to the now famous Panther D's to head my three battle groups. had to brag about them. someone mentioned thru the grape vine they were a mechanical nightmare....not with my people at the helm. carved up the strongpoints like they was warm butter
AND I upgraded my Stukas to the widow makers Me 410A's. best decision I've made for a long time
oh, upgraded my oooooooold Sturmpanzer I's to the new Hummel. the Sturmpanzers were so worn out you could hear the wheels against the tracks clear back at Berlin
man what (1) extra move from 4 to 5 speed makes
has to take back my unflattering remarks of the Pz IV's. upgraded a number of my Panzers to the Pz IVH. those guys jumped out there and told the Bear "Come and get some"
oh man, to battle in open terrain and no snow or mudd to get a DV! the PzC god's love me again
well I got 7101 prestige left after bringing the units back up to the top. going into Oboyan. sounds like it just might start turning into a grinder and may need all the prestige I got
