Russsian Guard Jaegers

Post by bahdahbum »

I am curious as to why there is no Jaeger guard infantry in the 1812 russian list .

In 1805 it was a bataillon strenght unit ( which should be OK for a SK attachment ), but in 1807 it grew up to a regiment and at the same time the Finland regiment becomes a second "light" infantry regiment of the guard .

In theory, each guard regiment was formed of 3 bataillons( except Peobrajensky which had 4 bataillons ) , each bataillon having 4 companies of 180 men ( at least for the line units ) .

So why no jaeger guard units ?

Don't forget that the sample lists in the rules are just that, samples to get people going on a points based game till the real list books come out. Then you will likely see your guard jaegers. Simple stuff for now better lists in the near future.

Remember also a unit is more than a regiment. So two Guard yegers might equal one unit.

I know that the combined guard jaegers could be and even should be only one unit as they were organised as the 3rd brigade of the V corps :D ( 1812 )

Before 1807, there was only one bataillon so I guess an attachment ! I do not think the regiment took part at the campaign in poland ( 1807 ), only one bataillon .
