Hi
I maybe opening a can of worms here. But, why the price difference between the PC/Mac versions and the new iPad version?
It's my understanding that the versions are identical except for the missing Scenario Editor on the iPad. Is that the only difference or are there more?
Also, why the price difference in the addons, are they missing something too? Or are they cheaper on the iPad only because the work of making and testing etc. has already been done on them and it was just a matter of plugging them into the Basic Game?
The reason I'm asking is I don't have the desktop version and I'm trying to decide if I really need to pick it up or not?
Is there some way that I could save downloaded content from the iPad version to some kind of backup so if I need to reinstall the game I don't need to DL all the different Scenarios again assuming that they would even still be available?
Please note, i'm not talking about the paid addons from Slitherine but the free user made content.
Forgive if these questions have already been answered somewhere....

Re: Why the price difference?
The $20 iPad price point was seen as a crazy move by many. For an iOS game its one of the most expensive ones in the store. The only difference between PC/Mac and iOS is the editor & modding other than some graphical differences. The main reason for the price difference is really that we felt this was as far as the market would go. We're already pushing the boundaries on iOS and felt the full $29.99 price point was a step too far and the missing features do add up to some very interesting opportunities. E.g. you can grab any user content you like at any time and try it out, tweak it, make your own scenarios etc. If you are in to this kind of thing the PC/Mac is the place to be. If you don;t care about that then you're not going to see any real value from getting the PC/Mac versions unless you like seeing the game on a larger screen and playing with a mouse interface.

Re: Why the price difference?
The $20 price point seems perfect. It's enough (hopefully) to reward the developers, but not too much for the app store. Most games you pay for in the app store are $.99 and the high end one are usually like six or seven dollars. More than $20 and less people would have bought it.
I hope that the price point in the app store can be broken by games like this one. It would mean more great games for a great device.
The only thing I would like to see is a PC/iPad combo pack for like $40 or $45. That way I could play my beloved BA on my laptop while my beloved watches Netflix on the pad

Unfortunately it violates Apple's terms to link iPad purchases to external deals etc, or visa versa
.

I'm confused, so your saying that if I was to some how prove to you that I had indeed purchased the Ipad version. You couldn't give a discount on the PC version even if you wanted too?pipfromslitherine wrote:Unfortunately it violates Apple's terms to link iPad purchases to external deals etc, or visa versa.

WOW that sounds really rather restrictive of Apple. I guess I don't see why a discount on the PC version has anything to do with Apple....
