Hi,
two quick questions concerning 1812 Russian Artillery attachments :
- Can a large art. unit have an attachment as well, and thus contain 4 bases ?
- Do the art. attachments count for the max bases allowed, i.e. can a Veteran art. unit (max 2 bases) have an art. attachment ?
Thx,
Martinov,

Yes, if permitted in the army list- Can a large art. unit have an attachment as well, and thus contain 4 bases ?
No, attachments are separate to the maximum artillery allowed and have their own maximum (set out at end of the list).- Do the art. attachments count for the max bases allowed, i.e. can a Veteran art. unit (max 2 bases) have an art. attachment ?
Cheers
Brett
Re: Russian Artillery attachments 1812
Ok, thx for the info.
So I presume the 4 base art. unit can have an officer attachment as well, since this is allowed in the armylist;

The officer attachment replaces a gun base so you still have the same number of bases in the unit. I believe any sized artillery unit can have an officer attachment.

Re: Russian Artillery attachments 1812
We were talkng about officer attachments to artillery over the weekend and thought the best way to model this might be to have an officer type figure in a bicorne with a telescope or similar on one of your artillery bases, so you can nominate that base as an artillery BC if you decide to take one.
Re: Russian Artillery attachments 1812
I'd probably use a base standing behind the artillery unit.....unless I get round to ever modelling one with an officer figure on it (something for the future methinks). I think that it'a only the French and Russians who are allowed them, so I'd only need 2.We were talkng about officer attachments to artillery over the weekend and thought the best way to model this might be to have an officer type figure in a bicorne with a telescope or similar on one of your artillery bases, so you can nominate that base as an artillery BC if you decide to take one.
Re: Russian Artillery attachments 1812
Hi,
After some consideration I intend to base my 25mm Artillery on 4cm wide - 6cm deep bases with only 1 crew member. The other crew will be on an additional 2cm wide - 6cm deep base, so a çomplete'total base will be 6x6cm.
This has 2 advantages : - remove the small 'crew' bases when guns are abandoned
- replace a crew bases by a mounted figure in case of officer attachment
As I prefer to have my guns fixed to a base I believe this is a nice compromise.
cheers,
Martinov
