Buildings Size??

Post by Blathergut »

For those souls who have some games under their sabres:

Have you found small sized (approx. size of 6 inf. bases) buildings or large ones (just fits into the full 12" circle) to be more useful? Why?

I like the idea of the small ones taking up less room on the field, but I like the idea of one inf. unit being able to hold all that ground of a large one!! Decisions! Decisions!!

Agreed that large building clog up more of the battlefield, but the defenders will be outnumbered more easily.
I unit in a building can defend quire happily against 1 or 2 enemy units. 3 enemy will quite easily force you out.

So far we have mainly been placing gentle hills. But I see now that I think particulary defenders and unreformed armies vs reformed want more terrain.

You ought to read the notes on 'partially steep' hills. These can be really useful (if they land in the right place).

Yes now that I see what you set up, very powerful.

Not sure I like the gamey effects. Most players will have a 1 MU band on one side of a hill now just to be a partially steep. If it lands right it is a pretty serious defensive position. If wrong it can still be used to inhibit enemy movement. But you're right new tactic there.

Also to be clear and obvious the mandatory hill of a defender cannot be partially steep unless there is a compulsory steep hil option.
