SP's 4th Medieval Invitation event

Post by stockwellpete »

My fourth invitation tournament is a continuation of the third event and it maintains its north European theme. This time the handicap has been increased to 75pts. The entrants are (with current LOEG rating in brackets) . . .

Team A: Nobles
ericdoman1 - Medieval German (later) 425pts (7.96)
hidde - Ordonnance France (later) 425pts (6.11)
davouthojo - Medieval Danish (later) 425pts (6.84)

Team B: Peasants
Fedem - Ordonnance Burgundian 500pts (3.66)
TheGrayMouser - Low Countries (Maximilian) 500pts (3.95)
stockwellpete - Later Medieval Swedish 500pts (4.48)

Everyone will play everybody else in a standard league format plus all the matches where a 500pt army plays a 425pt army will also contribute to a team event - Nobles versus Peasants. In the individual event four points will be awarded for a win, two points for a draw and a bonus point can be won by the winning player if his own losses are less than 50%. In the team event two points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw.

The schedule of matches is as follows (they can be played in any order, matches also counting towards the team event are in bold ). You may start as soon as you are ready. Closing date is 30th April.

1. ericdoman1 (Medieval Germans, later) 10/43 beat Fedem (Ordonnance Burgundian) 38/38 - Nobles 2pts
2. hidde (Ordonnance French, later) 13/40 beat TheGrayMouser (Low Countries, Maximilian) 42/41 - Nobles 2pts
3. stockwellpete (Later Medieval Swedish) beat davouthojo (Medieval Danish, later) w/o
4. ericdoman1 (Medieval Germans, later) 15/43 beat hidde (Ordonnance French, later) 39/38
5.TheGrayMouser (Low Countries, Maximilian) 22/41 beat stockwellpete (Later Medieval Swedish) 38/38
6. Fedem (Ordonnance Burgundian) beat davouthojo (Medieval Danish, later) w/o
7. hidde (Ordonnance French, later) 24/33 beat davouthojo (Medieval Danish, later) 45/43
8. stockwellpete (Later Medieval Swedish) 27/38 beat Fedem (Ordonnance Burgundian) 38/37
9. ericdoman1 (Med Germans, later) 27/47 beat TheGrayMouser (Low Countries, Maxi) 41/41 - Nobles 2pts
10. Fedem (Ordonnance Burgundian) 40/38 drew with TheGrayMouser (Low Countries, Maximilian) 43/41
11. ericdoman1 (Medieval Germans, later) 33/43 beat davouthojo (Medieval Danish, later) 47/43
12. hidde (Ordonnance French, later) 13/33 beat stockwellpete (Later Medieval Swedish) 34/34 - Nobles 2pts
13. TheGrayMouser (Low Countries, Maximilian) beat davouthojo (Medieval Danish, later) w/o
14. ericdoman1 (Medieval Germans, later) 13/48 beat stockwellpete (Later Medieval Swedish) 38/38 - Nobles 2pts
15. hidde (Ordonnance French, later) 29/33 beat Fedem (Ordonnance Burgundian) 36/35 - Nobles 2pts

TEAM EVENT: current score

Nobles 12 Peasants 0

Notes to players
i) there is a new rule!! NO ARID TERRAIN PLEASE (as we are in northern Europe :D )
ii) TGM is standing in for Triarius, certainly for the first two matches, maybe for the whole tournament. TGM's first two games should be against hidde (match 2) and Fedem (match 10) please. The reason for this is that these two matches correspond with the ones still outstanding in the previous tournament and, if Mike does return shortly, it will leave him 5 matches to play against a different opponent each time across the two invitation events. I am very grateful to TGM for standing in at short notice and he will receive an invitation to my 5th medieval event in the summer. :D
iii) no "dodgy" rear charges are allowed

Hey Pete, ? about your "no arid rule" I was fortunate to win the initiative (for once) yet only one of the 4 maps was "non arid" Since the maps are basially the same except brown clear hexes vs green clear hexes, does this really matter going forward? (xcept asthetically) Not all Europe is damp drizzly London ya know

Aesthetics is everything though, TGM. Green (arable) maps only in this tournament please.

Nope. I have resigned the game as you have used an arid map. Challenge re-submitted, password "ericdoman1". Not too difficult, is it chaps? :?

Hi Pete

Only had arid maps.

So now I guess as I won intiative. We keep issuing challenges, until I win inititive gain, it is an arable map and it is one i want to use. This may take some time.

Also a bit unfair as you saw my army.

Which means to even everything out, as well as above, I must now see your army.

Good call about the arable thing pete LOL

Aesthetics, dear boy. It irritates me no end when I have to use a western European army in a sandpit and, in any case, I have promised my Swedish chaps that at least they will be butchered on grass this time. And they are contented.

No, the first initiative roll is void as all maps were arid - all to play for on the second roll. I didn't actually look at your army but don't worry, with these Swedes I will be lucky to equal the 5 break points I got against you last time. I'll give you a clue about my army though - it will be comprised of a load of lumbering militia units who couldn't hit a barn door with their crossbows at a distance of 10 feet.

Now Eric has won the initiative in the second game, chosen a green map, and then he has promptly resigned. So what now, Eric? Shall I just award you our game? Saves me getting slaughtered, after all? I really cannot understand the problem here. Is it such a big deal to have a rule (announced beforehand) that restricts the choices of maps? Is it? :?

Did you read my other message.

You didn't see my army, come on Pete.

If you think you are going to lose why don't you just give me the win then, saves us a bit of time LOL.
