Viking Ally - Offensive Spear or HW

I've been looking at a Norse-Irish list using a Viking ally. What I can't decide on is whether its better to take the Armored Superior Huscarls as offensive spear or heavy weapon. Anyone have any thoughts on what they might think would be a better choice?

Against in date opponents I would take Off Sp, since HW is more useful if the opponent is better armoured. Your huscarls will be the ones most likely to be in the open facing mounted where Off Sp will be more useful against them than HW as well.

In almost all cases, the Off Spear are better than heavy weapons. The only time I can see heavy weapons do better is if you go up against dismounted Men-At-Arms; that is because you'll both have heavy weapons and their heavy armour advantage will be ignored.

Against mounted, spears are better.
Against skilled swordsmen, the spears are better.

Against everyone else, they are about the same (except when going up against heavy armoured infantry and that doesn't happen very often).
