This is yet another departure from the proper traditions of Rome. An honored elder such as Senator Ericus Domanicus has earned the right to enjoy his golden years. He should be allowed to enjoy the pleasures of his ancestral home and to have as much of the nectar of Dionysus as he desires. It is improper that he should be denied these pleasures and instead propped up in the Forum where he has seen fit to post what appear to be the ramblings of a mind showing the first signs of senility (or else he lies about missing his wine.)

Let us all allow honored Senator Ericus to truly enjoy his golden years. Senator Fedem must cease this unseemly effort to trade on Senator Ericus honored reputation and accomplishments and find instead a way to advance his career by more traditional and honorable means than Senator Ericus' toga-tails.

Meanwhile, the Aristocrat faction offers the same leadership that has made Illyria safe from revolting slaves and Dacian invaders to deal with the inflated Pontic threat. With the staunch soldiers of Rome and firm leadership these degenerate Easterners with their tin cans on horses and slave phalangites offer no threat to true Romans.

Senator Batesmotel
SPQR

ericdoman1 wrote:Hail Fedem

I applaud thee.

The way you are carrying on my young apprentice, I will be your pupil and retirement will beckon.

Oh yes it seems that I have also been accused of drinking too much wine. As it is well know. I have not had a touch of the wonderful, exotic, taste budding sensation, for (how long), "Two weeks, two bloody weeks!"

By the Gods, if I can do something like that, a miracle of Aesopian proportion, well people of Rome, fellow senators, consuls and so forth. That proves to everybody who knows me, what levels of sacrifice I am willing to offer for the benefit of Rome.

Look at me as a fatherly figure, nurturing you into ways that will make Rome, greater.

When it is time for me to retire I will do so and then my sons and daughters, not only my birthright sons and daughters will bring power to Rome.

Wasn't Pompey also able to claim victories in theatres where he'd never actually been? You must have learned the trick of magical bi-location from him, TGM. :)

Indeed senator batesmotel,if talking were the coin we would wager Rome's future on you good sir would be the only choice as leader. Howsoever and for Rome's good fortune Senator Ericus is a proven man of decisive actions! Let us examine the record fellow senators............proven wisdom, proven services to Rome and victory over the enemies of Rome! Senators! There is no true debate here! Clearly senator Ericus outshines all would be challengers. Put aside prurient personal biases and vote on in the true interests of Rome. Vote for a proven, victorious leader in war and a man of wisdom in peace. Vote for the esteemed senator Ericus and senator Fedem as consuls of Rome.

I beg your pardon Senator.

As you know I answered the call. I was in retirement and I was asked to serve Rome once again.

You now say I should go and retire once more going against the specific orders of the senate. You dare question the senate and Rome itself.

I demand an explanation, nay a resignation from the senator.

He is only a couple of years younger than I and it seems that he needs to contemplate the thought of retirement and based on his accusations as soon as possible. Before his next insult is even more treasonous than the one just uttered.

Those of you who have had any doubts about whom to vote for, well need I say more.

Hail TGM

How have you been able to travel so quickly from A to B.

By the Gods, I know you were quick but that quick. My goodness luckily the senate did ask for us to return.

Yours

It seems now that the honored senator Ericus Domanus can no longer follow the fine points of debate in the Senate. It is sad to see the decline of one who has given so much for the Senate and the People of Rome.

He is unable to even distinguish between a suggestion that the Senate allow him to return to his estates to enjoy the fruits of his years of service from a suggestion that he should defy the senates wishes. I wonder if his senility would now extend to feeling that a defeat for him in the election for consul must be answered by taking up arms to oppose such a result in order to obey the "true" wishes of the Senate that Senator Ericus imagines he hears???

Don't cloud the issue with pertinent facts!

This is politics and perception and emotions rule the field, right?

Besides i have it from eyewitnesses of the battles that cowardly subordinates purposefully disobeyed orders that would have won all 3 battles! Now the senate votes show the damage of rumors and lies to a good mans reputation!

Unfortunate indeed.

Especially as I just had a training game vs Rex, Eric 22/31 Romans vs Rex 42/38 Pontic Late

I wish to thank all of the true Republicans for their support.

Congratulations to the Aristocratic Faction. I hope you will lead Rome well.

Based on some unfortunate mistakes made and or a possible breakdown in communication along the way, things may have been different. I believe Carthage and my early retirement home beckons and my new vintage, and my loveley maiden servants, the sun, the socks and the sangrilla. Umm based on that if Rome does need me can you leave a message with my secretary.

Yours packing very quickly

Roman steel has failed the test! Radio Free Gaul announces that the Roman offensive against the Allobroges has collapsed; 4 battles were fought, and 3 ended in Allobroges' victory. Only TheGrayMouser may stand before your Senate in pride. As for the others, well, here is a picture of a nameless Legate cravenly begging for mercy and ransom:

http://i.imgur.com/1DyHc.jpg

How will Rome's new leadership respond to this ignominy? Is there no clarion to rouse your poor manhood to avenge these defeats? Has Rome in Tiber indeed melted? Will the wide arch of the rang'd empire fall here?

Dudes. You can't beat the Allobroges, how you gonna beat a really serious player like Mithridates?

Congratulations to the Aristocrats.

We Romans must accept the result in peace. Now it´s time to stop looking at each other with a bad eye or with suspicion or whatever you like to call it. If not, and according the last news, especially from Gaul, we will be soon going to find Gauls knocking at our doors and not to ask for a sugar cup.

Rome is going to need good and inspiring Generals so Praetor Ericus don´t put yourself so comfortable. I´m sure Rome is going to call you again.

Praetor Fedem. Commander of Legion III.

oh do I need the parctice. The roman army in Gaul was beaten through lack of discipline of our men. Charging off a perfectly good hill and getting massacred for their pains. Have insituted disciaplinary measures in my legion. No wine ration for a month army brothel closed for 10 days and will decimate this leigon if I have too.
