macsen defeated Keyth
macsen Early Bulgar 32/45 IC present (got bundled off the field by his own bodyguard) lost my camp and all my beer.
Keyth Abasid 36/32 and lots of beer (probably lost due to drunkeness in the ranks)

Cheers

Check the rules post for the new renown scores - changes are in this colour. Only a few battles now and we will finish Spring, I'll update the map and we can move into Summer. What are your opinions on announcing two battles per season instead of one? It means more battles possibly at the expense of keeping the seasons ticking....

Although ordinarily I automatically vote for more games, I think in this case one at a time would be best - otherwise the rise and fall of players may be too sudden, and as you say with two games there's more likelihood of a drag on results/seasons.

I agree with Aristides, one battle per season.

I believe under the current system most players will get two games a season. One where they are the aggressor and one where they are challenged. Either way is fine with me. I currently have 12 games going at the same time. I can usually get in several turns per game per day.

I'm happy to keep it to one as originally intended and see how we go from there.

if its one attack and then most probably a defend as well,I have no problem with it. The more practice the better!

Yep make it you can attack only once. Also you maybe you can be attacked multiple times, no more than twice say to represent Border defence. I will go with what Keyth decides though :)

Tophat (Nikephorian Byzantine(late) 35/34
Batesmotel (Nikephorian Byzantine(early) 24/38

In this Byzantine civil war the superior Tagmatic cavalry allowed for the early period proved to be more decisive than the Norman knights and the elite Varangian Guard for the late. Tophat's Georgian allies in particular didn't fare well including losing the allied Georgian command. (FC, I think but Tophat should correct this if wrong.) I don't remember if the Georgian commander was killed or blew up with his bodyguard so I'm not sure how that counts for points.

Don't forget that the baggage camp was looted by your skirmishers as well! LOL! The allied FC in question routed, was followed blocked in front and hit from behind so dispersed off the map. i'd say if he was dead he'll wish he was if i ever catch up to the coward!!!! So points should be awarded, what its 25? to kill a commander? I still thoroughly enjoyed the scenario.

If a commander makes it off the map, then they are considered alive ;)

Just to clarify - "blocked in front and hit from behind" and dispersed might mean 'destroyed' in the sense of fully routed before leaving the board ("blew up" supports this interpretation). Keyth, you mean if the leader's unit routs and/or evades off the map he's alive, but must leave the map via a map edge?

Exactly - if he 'blows up' (good image :) ) on the map then he's dead for scoring purposes.

Aristides (Khurasanian Dynasties (Tahirid)) 49/44
keyth (Arab Conquest(later)) 40/40

I lost an FC, just checking the archives for Aristides' leaders! He took the field with his IC who was fine. A brutal and close fought battle.
