Tac bombers and initiative...
Will an initiative bonus of 3 make a difference in tac bomber effectiveness attacking ground units?
Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
Only if that ground unit has AA capabilities. Most don't so it doesn't matter too much. But later in the war more and more do so it will be good then.
Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
Alright, thanks Brett. I have a Stuka just got i3. I might cross him over to an Me410 to attack planes. I don't usually use Stukas to attack units with AA capability, however you are correct about most late war having at least some AA capability. I suppose it depends on how the grand campaign unfolds, because there's a point, as in GTPG, where Stukas simply aren't usable at all or until late in a scenario because of the overwhelming enemy fighters. I have a habit of keeping a bare minimum of AA and fighters to field more armor.
I'm at Kharkov43, how serious do the Russians get with their fighters?

Only serious in Prohkvorka. Everything else you will be comfortable with. So one scenario where you will want some serious air power at your disposal.4kEY wrote:Alright, thanks Brett. Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
Actually INI on a Stuka is completely useless. In PzC, when an air unit attacks a AA gun, the INI of the AA gun is automatically set to 100, in other words, the AA gun will always get to fire all of its shots before the bomber has a chance to respond. I don't like this, but it's hardcoded, and there's nothing to be done about it ATM.
INI for TAC bombers are best given to units like the Bf 110, the Fw 190F, or the Me 410A, the TAC bombers that can also hit air units.

Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
That makes sense. Thanks, deducter. Me410 it is. Tacs are excellent for finishing off what the fighters don't.
I have a Dornier with i/a bonuses in GTPG that performs better than an Me262 without bonuses vs. fighters.

Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
AA guns are not the only thing that can shoot back at planes. So not exactly useless but pretty close. Like I said before later in the war you will face a growing percentage of armored vehicles that can shoot back at you.deducter wrote:Actually INI on a Stuka is completely useless. Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
Let me correctly myself: in any air vs ground combat, the ground units always have 100 initiative. It may make sense for an AA gun, but those lend-lease Shermans or JS-1 have 100 initiative too, which is silly IMO.
Re: Tac bombers and initiative...
Interesting. Thanks for the correction. So there is no reason at all to have an initiative hero at all. Makes me think they really need to change what kind of heroes certain units can get.deducter wrote:Let me correctly myself: in any air vs ground combat, the ground units always have 100 initiative. I had no idea about it. This is what I meant, when I said that you should make some "school" videos explaining the game's mechanics.deducter wrote:Actually INI on a Stuka is completely useless.
