Re: Armies at Ascot
Once Terry lets me know, I will post R & R here - unless of course Terry publishes the R & R here first!
Terry will be running a number of training/demonstration games of FOG Napoleonic on the Friday. Mike is also going to be around, I gather, so you will have a chance to buttonhole (politely!) both authors. I know that FOG N has been eagerly anticipated. We will be running a FOG N competition at Warfare this year, so come and have a taster.
Napoleon is of course famous for wanting lucky generals, but he also said that "One bad general is worth two good ones". Which will you be!?

Can't see them being bad maybe lack of figures just

Re: Armies at Ascot
Glad to hear it, just treated myself to some Prussian 15mm on ebay.
Re: Armies at Ascot
If people use Spainish and find them viable there must be something right with the rules. Mind thats from me who has a soft spot for them.

Re: Armies at Ascot
Guys,
There is no problem with Prussians. That is the only army I have and did me alright in the play testing.
From what I have seen, there is no killer army.

Re: Armies at Ascot
Unfortunately the list I was using for play testing does not look anything like the list in the rules.
All the light infantry has disappeared and you are now allowed an Exceptional commander.
I am playing this Friday, so will post a copy of that list when I sort it.

Re: Armies at Ascot
Unfortunately Warren was ill so we didn't get to see how the mighty Spanish fared.
Positions were:
French 1812
British 1811
Russian 1812
Austrian 1813
My 1813 French didn't get enough games to qualify for a position, but it did beat the British (although it was a first game for Ian).
In general the positions ended in order of quality, but I think everyone would redesign their armies now they've played more games. Paddy was especially suffering from a lack of leadership quality in his army. The equivalent of 4 TC's doesn't get you very far in Napoleonics. The Austrian army of 1813 isn't their best, and would certainly have done better against the 1813 French (which thankfully I avoided).

Re: Armies at Ascot
Did Warren have an ironic dose of Spanish flu ?
