Disrupted LS cavalry?

Post by hidde »

This is what I can find in the rules:

REFUSING TO CHARGE
 Light foot need to pass a test to charge any enemy other than light foot.
 Light horse need to pass a test to charge any enemy other than skirmishers.
 Unless shock troops, disrupted troops need to pass a test to charge.
 A battle group that refuses to charge may not move or shoot that player turn.

Well, in all my time playing FOG I have never been able to get a disrupted LS cavalry to charge.
Remember a tight game against ericdoman1 and how one disrupted LS cav of mine refused to charge a fragmented MF in the rear...
that's just plain stupid :D
Anyhow, if the rules are as posted above surely at least one or two of my countless tries should have been successful?!

Remember that that disruption gives a negative modifier to pass the test to charge

Yes, of course, but never once pass the test in 2,5 years of playing?
I can't be 100% sure of that but I know I have thought of this, on and off, for a very long time and I have no recollection of a successful test!

They do pass, just saw it in a game, refused twice and then obeyed ( and routed at impact , guess he knew better than me lol)

An undrilled ls cavarly that is disorderd or disrupted would need to roll 7 or higher on 2 d6, or 6 out of 11, slightly better than 5050 chance.

Disrupted undrilled would need 9 or higher. Disrupted drilled need 8 or higher so both less than 50/50.

Sometimes maybe they refuse for a reason lol. Just finshed a game where my roman superior disrupted LS refused twice to charge an enemy skirmisher. Third time he obeyed , the skirmisher held and my cavalry autorouted from casualty losses, doh...
